food and service were excellent, the wine prices are through the roof though, and do not match the food value.

Really enjoyed the sirloin steak and the beef dripping chips were amazing.

Food and service were excellent, the chateaubriand was superb, but the restaurant was extremely noisy. It was Friday lunchtime and the place was packed but we were surrounded by hard surfaces, walls, floor, ceiling which magnified the sounds - it was really difficult to hear our dining companions and the waiters speaking. Good wine list but expensive we felt..

I decided to give my wife a surprise dinner out and having seen it on a tv documentary decided on The Coal Shed. We ordered the duck to share only to be told that they had run out. The same with a summer pudding desert and another couple of items that were pointed out to us before we ordered. This was rather disappointing as with such a small menu (which I prefer) I would have thought it would not have been too difficult to keep stock levels up. The overall experience was pleasant as was the service.

Started with delicious cocktails at the bar . Service is friendly and just attentive enough to not be intrusive. Our food was gorgeous. Crab starter for me, smoked salmon for himself. I had sea bream, he had lamb and we were both v happy. Second visit, it won't be our last.

Very good food at a reasonable price and an ideal location if going to the Bridge Theatre. That said if meeting friends in the area would certainly recommend as a place to go for lunch or dinner

Duck egg was brilliant. Steak Onglet was very tasty, though a small portion (maybe i'm greedy).

Service from our waiter was awful. Some dishes were a bit indifferent. Overall okay.

First time at this restaurant - it was recommended to me by a friend. Great location (scenic with mini fountains and Tower Bridge right outside), great service (waitress was genuine and knew the menu very well) and great atmosphere (dim lighting and nicely decorated). However, lost a star due to the beef in the Sunday roast being a too fatty. The rest of the Sunday roast meal was great! The dessert special that weekend was refreshing and unexpectedly lovely - rice pudding with rhubarb and blood orange. I came with my partner and noticed there were a few families with toddlers and babies - there was no noise and the restaurant was very accommodating so I would say they appear to be child friendly too.

I had a fantastic experience at The Coal Shed, dining with friends I hadn't seen in a while. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and would come back again soon. The meal itself was excellent, there was a good choice of delicious options on the set menu and it was very good value for money. The service was smooth and attentive and they did not rush us to finish our meal even though we were having a late sitting. The restaurant is a little tucked away, but the atmosphere inside was great.
