We had a family gathering, reflecting on the loss of a family member. The ambience and quality of environment at the Cow and Calf were excellent and we were seated at a lovely table. Each of us enjoyed our meals which were well-presented and delicious. The service was generally great. Coffees and drinks, however, were served so violently that they banged down loudly on the table and the coffees all slopped into their saucers. So extreme that it was comic, I actually laughed out loud, but this didn’t spoil our experience.

The food was excellent and we had a table in a cosy corner as requested. We had lunch and a few drinks but felt rushed as the waitress said she would bring the bill as soon as we had finished eating.

Restaurant was chosen as we were all coming in from different directions so was central. Festive menu and regular menu were offered and there was plenty of choice for the vegetarian in the party. Waitress was attentive and food came in good time.
