5/10It was very disappointing as we were entertaining some very good friends of ours. The batter on the fish was too thick and it was only cooked on the outside, inside it was very soggy. The chicken dishes were very dry, tough and not much flavour. The only meal which was enjoyed was the Belly of Pork. Our waitress was very helpful.

4/10The staff were lovely and friendly and our drinks order arrived promptly. However, we were not told that there would be a long wait for food when we placed our order. We then waited an hour for our food to arrive. When it did eventually arrive no-one apologised for the delay and some of the meals were lukewarm, not piping hot. The venue seemed to be lacking a manager. With a delay in the kitchen, staff could have offered us olives, crisps or bread while we were waiting.

7/10We have been visiting this pub for decades and have seen some changes, some good some not so good. The setting is fantastic and is hard to beat with fabulous walks nearby. On a lovely day drinks outside on the patio is really enjoyable. The service from that staff is good and they are all very polite and friendly. My starter of calamari had a bit too thick batter for me but overall it was okay. The chicken skewers were nice but unfortunately I chose the flat bread and hummus to go with it which was not so good. Far far too much flat bread some of which could have been replaced with a bit of salad to liven it up. Was a bit expensive for what we had but nevertheless will definitely be returning as overall it is a lovely place to visit.

2/10Seated at 1755 for a 1800 booking (which the restaurant didn't have! What about the two e-mails received as confirmation??). Told who our waitress was and that she would be with us in a minute or two. Got up and left at 1815 as no sign of anyone and thought the idea of eating with a yapping dog was beyond health and safety! How are dogs allowed in places of eating? Will not be visiting the Cuckmere Inn again.

8/10Popped in for a quick bite to eat before going to theatre in Eastbourne.. The restaurant was quiet and we were shown to our table immediately. Our waiter was lovely and answered any questions we had. Drinks and food were good and served quickly. Great place for a mid-week pre-theatre dinner.

6/10The Cuckmere inn is quite a pleasant place to enjoy a leisurely lunch. The service and initial reception was excellent. Unfortunately the quality and presentation of the meal was not at all good. The food was largely frozen particularly the vegetables which were insipid. The Brussels sprouts and beans were hard and virtually inedible. Also there was far too much on the plate which elderly patrons would find it hard to finish up. Perhaps an OAP menu would have been appropriate. Also the actual cost was expensive compared to similar establishments such as Weatherspoons. The sweet which I had was crème brûlée which really was most insipid watery custard.

10/10Excellent meals. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent waiting staff. One tiny comment. I ordered a pavlova & it wasn’t a pavlova. If was a very large meringue. It looked amazing but too large for me to finish. It should be called a meringue not a pavlova. Very different. Nonetheless this didn’t spoil our experience.

9.5/10Have been going here for years , recently the menu has been more limited and I have some allergens but they are always keen to adapt, The location is fantastic, particularly outside with the view over The Cuckmere . Today I found the service amazing , really polite and helpful guys. The food was great, beautifully presented.

5/10Unfortunately we had to wait about 45 mins for our food to arrive, and when it did the meat inside the 'Pie of the day' which was beef and Merlot was little and gristly, the mash potato was cold. A caesar salad was further delayed and when it did it had some strips of uncooked bacon in it. A side order of sweet potato fries arrived cold. I must say the waiter gave us no cause for complaint, he did his best.

9/10our waitress Sarah was excellant and the food was of good quality with really good portions, and would definately recommend as a place to eat lunch. As very popular some delay with the food but worth the wait.

2/10SADLY THE FOOD WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. IT WAS MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY AND IT WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT. IT WAS SUNDAY AND WE HAD THE ROASTS. I HAD THE BEEF AND MY WIFE HAD THE PORK BELLY. WE CLEARLY ASKED THE WAITRESS THAT I WANTED THE BEEF VERY RARE AND THE PORK BELLY VERY CRISPY AND WELL DONE. THE FOOD CAME: BEEF DARK BROWN OVERCOOKED TOUGH AS LEATHER. PORK BELLY PRATICALLY RAW, WHEN I ASKED THE WAITRESS I WAS TOLD THE CHEF COULDN'T DO IT COZ THE BEEF WAS PRE-COOKED AND IT WAS ALL LIKE THAT. THE PORK WENT BACK AND CAME BACK TORCHED ON THE TOP AND THE VEG. AND GRAVY CAME BACK COLD. ALL IN ALL I PAID £56 FOR TERRIBLE FOOD. WILL NEVER GO BACK AND WIIL MAKE SURE NONE OF MY FRIENDS WILL GO THERE. PEOPLE STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, CUCKMERE INN. SEAFORD.

7/10The ambiance and food when you get it is very good. The service front of house is good too so what’s wrong? The issue seems to be kitchen throughput. Arrive first thing and it’s all reasonably good. An hour into a busy session and it begins to fall apart. Main course arrived in good time ( remembering that it’s not fast food here). Dessert was too long; it took 20 minutes to discover one dessert was no longer available and another to discover that a second dessert was no longer available. Items were knocked off the bill in apology and this was appreciated. Again, the food was great once it arrived. There’s a really good pub restaurant here trying to get out but not the venue if you are in a rush.

10/10My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary so the meal was "an occasion". Because of this "time " was not important. However two hours for two courses is rather a long wait .Nevertheless the food was excellent and the waiter did his best to compensate for the rather long wait. We very much enjoyed our time at the Cuckmere Inn. Ronald Brown.

8.5/10We enjoyed our meal at the Cuckmere Inn. Our waitress, Jasmine, was friendly and efficient. The chicken and leek pie with spring mash was very tasty, as was the crème brûlée - though that was smaller than the ones we’d had last time. The pub is very clean and airy. Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon.

8/10We had an outside table on a lovely sunny day. The food was very good .I would gladly recommend the excellent fish cakes. The staff were very helpful
