10/10Amazing restaurant. We dined inside, despite it being warm out. Service was great, lights were lovely. Food was excellent. More than we usually pay, but still value for money.

8/10Very pretty restaurant both inside and outside. Staff friendly and very efficient. Sat by a cosy fire but found the music too loud to be able to hear our conversation clearly around the table. Food tasty but slightly on the expensive side. The portion of potatoes with the fishcakes seemed small. However, other menu items seemed to have fairer sized portions. Good choice of items on the menu and I would happily return.

10/10The food and service was excellent. Had pie of the day and the curry. Both very well presented and tasty. The only disappointment was the honey pot dessert. I’ve had this before and it was phenomenal, a real signature dish, however, it has been replaced by a rather thin caramac style chocolate ball of honeycombe rather than the thick chocolate barrel with lid, as advertised (shown) on your website. Please bring the original honey pot back please. It was fabulous! wouldn’t particularly order the replacement version again.

8.5/10The food was very slow to be served, not the waitress fault, she was good. Don't like the music! unnecessary and intrusive, Otherwise good and I will use again hoping not to wait about 50 minutes from when we arrived to get any food.

8.5/10Nice food and staff but a long wait of 40 minutes for food to arrive, it was busy with drinkers in outside area with many at bar but that should not effect diners the company should employ more staff if current staff can’t cope, I am talking of 6pm on a Thursday not a weekend.

10/10Simply perfect. I saw the reviews on trip advisor and was impressed by the looks and menu. Promptly booked for Sunday 16th. I was not disappointed, my Girlfriend and I had a nice cocktail outside before eating. It was very busy and a friendly family atmosphere. We could see the food coming out and looked amazing. We certainly wasn’t disappointed my the menu and ordered different starters , Roast Dinners and Dessert. We shared and loved the food. The service was perfect, food came out hot and feedback questions were asked when we weren’t eating. Toilets were very clean and to a a Good standard . Afterwards enjoyed walking down the canal path’s towards the fields. We look forward to going back and enjoying more delicious food.

7.5/10It’s quite a busy pub on Friday evening or short staffed? Waited 5 minutes before someone come forward to take us to our table. Didn’t even ask for reservations ~ name & etc. just sat us down at next available table for 2. It took ages for everything to arrive from drinks to food. I think wait for food was nearly 30 mins or more. It’s 5 miles from home so it’s convenience for us.

9/10After waiting at the bar for about 5mins waiting to be served as there was only a few members of staff . We ordered drinks then checked into the restaurant. We had a very nice table in the bay window I asked for extra leg room and this was provided The food was so tasty we ordered fish and chips ,burger, chicken schnitzel ,sea bass and a vegetarian meal. The wait time was just right we were not disappointed as the food was delicious. Will return again especially in the summer as it’s right next to the river with the boats going past

8/10We enjoyed our meal, but discovered on the way out that we had not been offered the midweek menu. If we had seen this, we would probably have saved a considerable amount of money! As fairly regular customers, we were disappointed.

4.5/10I usually love The Cunning Man and it’s food. However today we waited a long time for our food to come out (each course), one of the meals was wrong, and my battered fish was hard and dry with very little fish in it.

9/10The staff are friendly and professional. The pub is dog friendly, always a plus. The food is of a good standard and there is a wide choice of beers, spirits etc. Plenty of outside and inside seating. Dont have to wait for food. There is the app to use, which works brilliantly. The only negative; please ensure your doggo beer barrels are full and the bowls have water in them. Im sure if id ased it would have been sorted, as it was, we toom our own water for the dog.

8.5/10We met a friend there who had visited quite a while ago. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Not all the tables were occupied but the food and drinks took a while to appear. However, it was well worth the wait and we would definitely return. Loved the log fire as it was a little chilly outside. A lovely country pub.

10/10My first visit to this restaurant with three friends and we were very impressed. Excellent quality of food, with some different dishes from the norm. One of our party has problems swallowing due to a cancer operation and her needs were dealt with efficiently. The staff were very friendly and polite. Definitely a place for a further visit.

6/10Not greeted on arrival. Lady then checked me in and got my reg number for me. We wanted to eat outside but the QR code wasn't working. We came in, had to ask for menus. Food took for ever to arrive despite me saying we were short on time. The walkway in was roped on one side leaving me a steep slop to use on my motility scooter. Overall an unsatisfactory visit athlough the waitress did say she would mention the scooter access to management.

10/10We have been to The Cunning Man numerous times over the years and have always found the staff very friendly and welcoming. The menu has a reasonable choice that would suit most people. I presume that a bigger choice would be available for dinner. The four of us had a very enjoyable lunch and felt under no pressure to vacate the table. Very attentive staff.

5.5/10Had to ask several times for water, overall service good tho, ice cream was runny by the time it made it yo the table however My salad was over dressed, very strong dressing flooded the salad. Probably would go back as quite expensive for what we had

9/10Good example of a Vintage Inns franchise. Location and garden are good, backing onto the Kennet and Avon canal. Food was good, service was prompt. Noise levels when we arrived were high as there were quite a few kids in the garden playing quite boisterous games. Not an issue, they were just making quite a lot of noise.
