The Derby Arms was highly recommended to us and did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The food was delicious and very well presented. A lovely place to go after the races or a walk across Epsom Downs.

Although the menu was varied and catered for every taste they had ran out of most things we asked for straight away considering it was 19.30 it was ridiculous and ruined our evening before it started it was easier for them to say what they did have. I had to send my ribeye steak back as it was really fatty and I replaced it with a fillet which was lovely but with very little to accompany it for quite a high price tag. Although the service was excellent the food let it down so safe to safe won’t be returning which is a shame as a few years ago I use to be a regular and it’s a good halfway point for my daughter.

Service was exceptionally slow considering the place was half empty. The food tasted of old cooking oil and left a bad taste. My salmon was totally overpowered by the cooking oil and the chips were unpleasant. The steak was non descriptive and tasteless. As a result we didn’t bother with dessert or coffee. Pretty overpriced for the poor quality.

I thought that £10.95 for lettuce, 3 croutons, 3 anchovies a tiny bit of dressing and some parmesan was very expensive for what it was. Disappointing.

Despite booking in advance, the waitress would not allow us to sit on the table of choice, saying that another party had booked it, it was the same size table as the one she gave us, and it had not been specifically requested. It was a set three course menu and we were not given the choice of a two course menu at a reduced price, so were forced to have three courses when we didn't want them. Two dessert options had sold out at 2.30pm meaning we had to choose things we didn't want. It took a very long time and on previous visits it has been the same to get anyone's attention to get the bill. Whilst I appreciate this was a busy day (Fathers Day) there were plenty of staff but they focused on serving at the bar rather than attending to tables. Because of the above, it will not be my restaurant of choice again.

I love the derby arms. Lovely ambience lots of comfy seating. lovely staff and delicious food. I had the fish cakes which were delicious I highly recommend And you can take your dog in too

Food okay-ish but restaurant not very welcoming. We were the last table at 9.30 pm and they started noisily dragging all the chairs around the restaurant giving us the distinct impression that we were in the way. Used to go here very regularly but will now probably only go for lunch.

The food was disappointing, we had a baked Camembert to start, it was tasteless and obviously old and been reheated. Limited vegetarian choices which were not as good as the descriptions. Rack of lamb was very good.

We arrived on time and were seated, we waited for 15 min for anybody came to the table, we had plenty of time to view the menu so we’re able to order drinks and food at the same time, 15 min later the apps arrived followed 5 min later with drinks, another 25 min food arrived, fish cakes were ok, but my 10oz ribeye was well over cooked , as this order had taken so long to arrive we decided to just eat and go, not impressed at all.

My vege meal was lovely but fries were very fry. One pork roast was great the other pork was very dry.service fine abd staff attentive.
