5/10This restaurant is certainly having trouble picking up after Covid. I know it is tough but you cannot go on like this. The staff are very good and friendly but I cannot see you lasting much longer. For one thing, the restaurant is too far out from Newport. Meal portions too small and it was also very cold in the restaurant. Hope you will see better times. Good luck.

7.5/10The ambiance was good and the staff were friendly but our meals took rather a long time to arrive. We were generally happy with our food. I particularly liked the 'pie of the day' option.

7/10Have usedvthe dragonfly regularly for the past two year's and yesterday's meals were the worst we have ever had. The one meal had a hair in it and the beef rib meal was floating in grease. However the serving staff were exceptional and polite to us.

7.5/10We have had Sunday dinner here before. Each meat is served with Yorkshire pudding, plenty of roast potatoes, vegetables and gravy. The roast potatoes are lovely - not deep fried as some are. The vegetables are nice and crispy, with plenty for each person - the carrots are roasted rather than boiled which makes a nice change. The cauliflower cheese wasn't as good as usual - it was more like cauliflower with melted cheese on it, rather than in a cheese sauce. The lunches are a bit more expensive than some other local pubs, but the meal is very tasty and of good quality, so we think it is worth paying a little extra for. The service was good, and we didn't have to wait long for our food.

7/10Been using the dragonfly for a while have always been really pleased with the quality of the food and the restaurant as a whole. Yesterday the meal was very disapointing. I had tbe gammon which was offeted with a fried egg i requested to have the egg left off. The meal arrived with about 12 very greasy chips and a gammon steak. There was no salad or veg added look very poor on a large plate. Most of the chips were wasted. As we use this restaurant every couple of weeks we may have to rethink using this restaurant if the food quality continues to deteriorate.

5/10We booked online and requested a table bear the toilets as one of our party is elderly. Don't bother with requests! The grumpy waiter didn't like us asking to change seats when he showed us to the table about as far away from the toilets as you can get. He told us online bookings are assigned tables automatically. Basically, if you put in a request, no one actually looks at it!! Service was also very slow. Not impressed

10/10All good. Nice atmosphere and Nick our waiter was friendly and very helpful and was able to help with questions we had. The menu had a nice choice of mains and it's a good idea to have a coffee and small sweet combined. Never had a bad meal in the Dragonfly and would recommend the restaurant highly

9/10The meal was lovely. I had booked deliberately as I had previously enjoyed the lamb main but that was not on the festive menu. The meal was good and the service excellent - thank you Jamie. Overall would certainly recommend. The COVID safety measures were implemented well.

7.5/10Had the festive meal it was ok nothink special but exceptable. Staff were pleasent and helpful. Atmosphere was nice and the logfire was a nice touch for Christmas. Social distancing was in place and we felt comfortable and safe

9.5/10Had a meal in the bar as we had the dog with us. Service and food were excellent. As we were in the bar it was rather full and extremly noisy. But this hasnt put us off visiting again

9.5/10Really good meal. Never easy to complete a restaurant dish with a perfectly cooked and presented poached egg. The person who waited on our table was new to the pub team but very good. Well done The Dragonfly.

5/10Seated quite a while for waitress to appear, she did apologise. Beer ordered not available. Ordered three Sunday roasts, no courgettes or red onions which were stated on menu. Beef meal not hot enough. Waited long for desserts waitress apologised twice. Visited restaurant a number of times recently. Normally very good , this time disappointed.

10/10Menu is excellent and well thought out - standard throughout Vintage Inns so you always know what you’re getting and that it will be of very high quality. Perhaps a little on the expensive side though. Likewise, service is always excellent and the chain obviously gives great thought to the type of ambience they are aiming to create as its always warm and welcoming and their venues are thoughtfully laid out and decorated. We are fans of Vintage Inns and definitely consider them superior to most ‘chain’ restaurants. Absolutely recommend for any occasion or just a quiet meal out.

9/10Very nice meal and well presented. The staff were efficient and friendly. Nice atmosphere and tables well spaced out Same menu as before a few weeks ago, so hope this changes on a regular basis. Would recommend for couples and families alike.

10/10We had been to this restaurant before so knew what to expect. It was, however, the first time we had been since the relaxation of rules around face masks. Staff still wore them and one/two patrons wore them coming in but social distancing is still in place with every other table left free. All of our food was delivered hot to the table - we could hear an odd grumble at a table behind us that their food was warm but ours was ok. Service was spot on and our server was really friendly.

9/10I was really impressed with the level of service and attention to detail. We asked for a table away from others and everyone was very attentive to our concerns. We were really well looked after which means a great deal. The food was lovely and reasonable. A very enjoyable meal and will be back

7/10The staff were friendly and very helpful re my friend’s nut allergy. A young lad called Alex, he was excellent with his attention to detail and lovely manner. The mains were ok, there was a little salad with the Hunter’s chicken but it could have done with a corn cob or similar as well. Triple cooked chips not that tasty. Dessert was disappointing- the creme brûlée was a thin layer over a purple (possibly black currant) mush and the ice cream was better. The peach melba tart my friend had looked sad and the sauce was everywhere, not sure if it was artistic design! Also, the bramble gin cocktail tasted like an actual bramble/dishwasher drain, so avoid. We had a pleasant rose instead! The restaurant was very clean and staff were cleaning constantly which is good to see. Would visit again!

9.5/10Really lovely food. Tempura Prawns were excellent. Nice attentive staff. Haven’t been there for years due to lockdown but can’t wait to go back soon.
