I made a reservation for 8 in the afternoon for 20:30. On the site it was specified that kids after 20:30 weren't allowed. As we had 3 I specified on the reservation that our group had 3 kids. It was also written that this was not a reservation and that, after approval I would receive a confirmation email. An hour later I received the confirmation email so we went to the restaurant at the specified time, to be stopped at the entrance since kids were not allowed. The lady dealing with reservations didn't read the reservation, and it just approved it , not verifying that the group had 3 kid. letting us without a reservation on a Friday evening in the last week of the year. Genius

We wanted steak and ale pie. Nothing else would do. Boy did we come to the right place. At first I was disappointed because it was in a puff pastry shell instead of more of a piecrust. But it was so very good, the beef was tender and cooked just perfectly the ale flavor was very good and the puff pastry was a much better addition than I thought. We got a separate little pitcher of gravy for both the pie and the mashed potatoes. All in all an excellent meal. The service was excellent also, with a young lady who flew up and down the stairs, took our order and was very very personable. The next time we’re in London, we will come here again.

Service was great. Food disappointing. Eg Crab and crayfish cocktail so covered in paprika it tasted of nothing else. The apple sauce was just sweet - no real taste of apples. Fish and chips fine but nothing special.
