9/10Beautiful ambience (open fire) and extremely nice food. Request for a particular table honoured and delicious food. The cheese plate was a tad limited, otherwise excellent all round.

9.5/10Went for a birthday lunch surprise for my husband. Food was fabulous, creatively presented but most importantly well balanced and tasted wonderful. Great combination of flavours and textures of food. It was a little cool when we arrived but were next to a radiator so soon warmed up. Lovely atmosphere, country pub meets fine dining. Relaxed, great food but not too fussy. Lettuce soup taster was wonderful. Thank you.

10/10Very attentive staff and excellent food made for a very enjoyable visit to the Duck on the Pond. The beer and cheddar soup was a delicious surprise tasting and the Hay custard dessert deserves five stars..

10/10The set lunch menu is really good value for the quality of food. The little touches of an amuse bouche and bread were greatly appreciated and the lunch club offer of a free carafe of house wine, make it excellent value. One small thing is that it would be nice to see the set menu varied a little. It is very similar to that in the owners previous pub / restaurant and would probably mean i would visit more frequently if it was refreshed.

8.5/10My friend and I enjoyed our lunch. The service was unobtrusive but good. We both felt the menu for lunch was rather limited but appreciated the fact that our food was fresh and cooked to order. This is most definitely preferable to having an extensive menu in our opinion. We look forward to returning for dinner when the weather gets better!

10/10Lovely atmosphere, warm and cosy with a log fire. Service was good and food for all of us was excellent.. This was our third visit with friends from afar. Not disappointed at all. . Would thoroughly recommend.

10/10Made very welcome. The food was absolutely superb and the little extras ( a small sample of pumpkin soup, little chocolate at the end) were excellent. Would definitely visit gain and highly recommend.

10/10Fabulous Sunday lunch . I had the salmon which was fresh and went really well with the dill and sour cream. My husband had the Waldorf salad which was delicious . Next Roast beef and Yorkshire’s stuffed with Ox cheek was wonderful along with selection of fresh hot vegetables. . A cosy warm restaurant on a cold snowy day with great service . We visit regularly because every time we go we have a great meal . It’s good that you can now book online . Definitely one of our favourites.

6/10It was our 55th wedding anniversary - which I'd let them know about, along with me being a vegetarian - and we were expecting something really special. But my Mushroom Wellington was a couple of slices of dull filling in soggy pastry, with over-salted creamed potatoes, and it was followed by a small slice of chocolate orange delice which was too cold and too solid to taste of much. The best thing was the amuse-bouche of squash soup. I was hoping for a little something to mark the occasion - a free glass of fizz? - but was sadly disappointed.

6/10Been there many times. Amuse Bouche has been dropped..shame. Pork overcooked. Chicken dry. Roast potatoes disappointing. Vegetables less than normal. Service slow (Restaurant was far from full).

10/10A lovely meal in a beautiful setting for a family lunch for our daughter's 21st birthday. The menu was interesting, the food delicious and the service very good. We were able to bring a birthday cake and had our own area to celebrate. It was great, thank you.

10/10This the second time we have visited because we loved our meal the first time. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients used. The menu is not pages long which I like because you know you are going to get something that is truly made to order. We ordered a starter and a main, and were delighted to receive a small taster of lettuce soup homemade bread and butter beforehand which was delicious. I cannot fault our dinner this evening, my husband had the Waldorf salad for starters and the same dessert he had on our first outing because he loved it so much! It really has become our favourite place to eat. I’m really looking forward to coming back again to try the rest of the menu.

6.5/10The food itself was good although have had better there . The service was very slow with over half an hour wait between starter and main . Table booked for 7.30 and main course served circa 9.15 . Plates removed promptly delay was in getting food out . Resteraunt unusually busy with apparently an alternative menu being offered for outside diners . On the whole disappointing especially as it is one of our “ go to “ restaurants. I feel that on this occasion they were over extended .

10/10We had a lovely meal at The Duck On The Pond on Sunday. We ate at 3pm had an intimate table for 2 and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the wine. Good variety of food for meat eaters and vegetarians without being overwhelming. It had been a few years since we last visited, we were very impressed with the new layout. Nice to find a pub with good food, good parking and only a few minutes away. We will return 👍☺️
