Afternoon tea for my best friends 40th. I’ve been a few times, but it was her first. It is simply the best afternoon tea experience there is. Food amazing (and has been different every time I have been) so they clearly make the effort. Very attentive staff, and the cocktail range is awesome. Definitel highly recommend
Not a memorable experience as I had hoped for unfortunately. The afternoon tea was nothing special, with tiny portions. It was very noisy in the dinning room, the lighting was very dim and effected my eye sight the time I was there. Most importantly though, after having informed yourselves on 3 seperate occasions that my friend had a nut allergy and was gluten free. She was served the same scones as me. Luckily she double checked with the waitress before she ate one.
The scones were outstanding, came out warm and melted in your mouth.
Amazing ambience, the afternoon tea was beautiful and the staff couldn’t be more helpful! I would recommend to anyone
Very good quality food and service. Worth every penny.
The food was lovely but the service exceptionally slow. We waited 40 minutes for a tea and had to ask three times. For 35 per head I would expect better service.
Amazing! A real treat! Fantastic service and Devine treats in a beautiful setting! We will be back
Wonderful atmosphere, elegantly presented, delicious treats for a set afternoon tea. Sweet staff. Definitely worth recommending!
The hotel restaurant area was beautifully lavished Christmas decor and the food was dainty and delicious. My experience was let down by the service we received which is the reason for the 3* rating. The wait staff on more than 1 occasion felt abrupt and rude. When discussing dietary requirements to remove alcohol for medical purposes, I advised if it’s easier for the chef to remove them from all of the items. The waiter advised that it didn’t matter and to “just make a decision”. The tea cup I was provided was rather stained and looked as though there were bits inside, I asked for a new cup to which I was advised that these were 80year old cup so this is expected and asked if I still wanted another. No apology, just an excuse and made to feel like asking for another cup was an inconvenience or I didn’t understand the value of the 80 year old tea cups. We were not asked once if we needed a refill on the tea, I had to ask a member of staff, to which they replied do you just want me to put more hot water in the teapot? [Yes, sure if that’s what you do, I’m am the guest, I wouldn’t know???] And then again no further refills or questions on other drinks. My experience here did not feel as luxurious as it usually does, I wouldn’t be so quick to recommend as I have in the past. Disappointed, as were my 2 guests who hadn’t been before.
Beautiful restaurant and place to dine. Food was spectacularly presented, involved a range of different flavours and tasted amazing. Waiters and staff were friendly and helpful and were very knowledgable about the menu.
The Edgbaston afternoon tea was sensational. We went off a recommendation from a friend a few years ago but after never being quite able to sync our diaries with when there were booking available we finally managed to get booked in. The setting in beautiful and the staff were all super helpful and polite. The food was excellent - pure theatre mixed with fantastic favours (loved the appetisers and the saviour items the most - desserts were all good as well). Scones were also fantastic. Staff were very helpful without being intrusive and if you want Instagram worthy pictures you wont do far wrong. Would definitely go again and is also a great sign that the quality has altered over the years is a real sign of how great this afternoon tea offering is.
This is my second visit for afternoon tea, the food is lovely but I did feel that the tables were far more crammed in than my previous visit, it almost felt a little canteenesque , taking a few tables out would make it a far more comfortable experience. Also an expresso martini should not be messed with, keep it to the traditional, or at least make it clear in your menu
3 years ago my niece bought me a voucher for afternoon tea at the Edgbaston Boutique hotel, it was so lovely with excellent food helpful staff and a warm welcome it is now my regular place to bring friends and family
I booked a table for five to celebrate my niece’s 18th birthday after reading glowing reviews about the Edgbaston award winning afternoon tea. From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable, despite the lounge being busy; pretty much fully booked. We were shown to a beautifully laid corner table. The staff were attentive, efficient, courteous to a fault and nothing was too much trouble. The quality of the food was amazing. I love a good afternoon tea but the Edgbaston’s really was a special experience, topped off with a wonderful extra surprise touch towards the end when the waiter presented the birthday girl with a handmade white chocolate and passion fruit lollipop! Prepare to go with empty stomachs and an appetite-we all left stuffed to the brim, with the scones we couldn’t manage to eat being neatly packaged up for us to take home. It was well worth the drive and everyone loved the experience!!
Afternoon tea at the edgbaston boutique is alway that little bit Special! The Art Deco venue gives it that 1920’s glam ambience.
A real treat from start to finish. Second time I've been lucky enough to have afternoon tea here and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Raises the bar experiencewise and probably my favourite afternoon tea anywhere. Pleased to find that the staff and service were much friendlier this time too. Hope to go again soon....
My sister and I love it here it’s perfect for a special occasion,
We had afternoon tea. It was all very nice. Cocktails are a little pricey. Service was also quite slow in that we had to keep calling someone over for drinks and then chase them up however I got the impression a lot of the staff were quite new so they weren't too sure about things. All of the cakes were lovely (especially the scones!) Overall a nice treat however now I have been and experienced it I don't feel in a rush to revisit.
