I can’t praise The Elder more. The food is simply wonderful-we had the tasting menu and our waiter was like an old friend-knowledgeable and great fun with a clear love for his job. Best place to eat in Bath; we love it and return regularly.

Stand out food was Roast Venison. Sadly the Roast Beef was far from tender, quite tough and lacked taste (relatively). Roast potatoes over done. Had to remind them of our drinks order. I would have appreciated them checking if I still wanted desert, but they served it before we had finished eating the main course!

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience, from the greeting to dessert. Definitely make reservations as they had a full house. They do have a beautiful full bar though that would be lovely to drop by for cocktails. We choose from the a la carte menu, but they have 2-3 course fixed menu options. First they serve you house made bread with a portion of beef & venison broth for dipping. Amazing flavor! As a starter we chose the crispy artichoke appetizer, which was surprisingly more of a soup and absolutely delicious. For the main we chose the Mallard with lentils and the mushroom risotto. Both were outstanding. For dessert we shared a blackberry tart with blackberry sorbet that had a super crispy, light crust, and lovely custard filling. Delicious!.They have an adequate wine list, both glass & bottle options. We chose a Pinot noir from Marlborough that was so good with both the duck & the risotto.If I lived in Bath I would dine at the Elder on a regular basis. As a visitor I feel fortunate to have had the luck to pick The Elder for a wonderful evening & dining experience.

Great service and ambience. Nick, one of the waiters, was truly entertaining and welcoming. Food was well designed, but on the night badly executed. My pigeon tart arrived half cold half lukewarm, so I did not eat it. The venison was great but again the mash arrived lukewarm towards cold, hence taking away pleasure.

The dishes both of us ordered, especially the wood pigeon pastrami, belly of lamb, cherry claffouti and blackcurrant souffle, were exquisite, The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and engaging, there were no long gaps between courses, and overall it was a delicious memory.

Have eaten here before on an evening with friends & it was so good I treated my husband to Sunday lunch . It was possibly the best Sunday lunch we’ve had , absolutely delicious. Service not intrusive but attentive

Everything was gooood! Except the fact that the timing the food was served :/ that could’ve been times more better as it played a role as to how much we could eat :) appetizer came quick right after bread and main was served amidst a long break from the appetiser :/ took too long to come and we were too full to enjoy the main I hope this could be improved as I will definitely be back for more :p
