10/10Absolutely amazing! Sublime, delicious tastes! An assault on the taste buds! This restaurant.... The Elder (in case you've forgotten!) Should earn at least 1 Michelin star and if you can not give it that (and I see no reason why you can't) then at the very least it merits being listed in the Michelin guide where it once was and very much deserves to still be.

10/10We attended the Elder to try their new tasting menu and wow!!! It exceeded all expectations and took a tasting menu to a whole new level. The food was phenomenal - taste wise and presentation. The flavours were beautifully thought-out. I opted for the rabbit and veal and the meat was cooked to perfection and again, outstanding flavours! We spoke to the owner, Mike who took the time to talk through the menu and where the produce and ideas came from - it was fabulous to know that even the honey came from his very own bees! The staff and chefs put their heart and soul into every aspect and into ensuring the overall experience is a good one! Gerda was a fabulous waitress - she spoke about the menu and wine pairing (which is highly recommended) with so much passion and was attentive and warm. The fish options looked equally as beautiful and we cannot wait to return to try! An absolute VALUE for money - it was worth every penny and more!

4.5/10The website did not make it clear that the Elder only offered a tasting menu. This was disappointing so my guest and I had to transfer the the adjoining restaurant’Beau’ which offered an a la carte menu.

You did say to us that you did not check the website, as you've been to the Elder before and expected it to still be the same, which we understood. The website very clearly states that the Elder has changed and that we only serve our 7-course set menu. If this review was meant for your experience at Brasserie Beau, then we apologise if food and service were not up to standard. 6/10We decided to go for the nar menu, as for a menu with only 15 items for 4 of them to be tarts didn't really think this was very exciting, as soon as we said we would go for the bar menu we felt shunned, our starters took about 49 mins to come out, our son wasn't given cutlery, we had to ask, the butter with our bread was rock hard, when our main courses arrived my wife's venison steak which should have been served with mash, we were told they used all the potatoes for roost so we were given fries, not a nice bowl of roast potatoes, fries, and this was said when the food arrived, not an apology an hour before when we ordered. My burger I have to say was quite dry, on a positive, the Oxford sauce was very nice, the venison steak and sauce were extremely food, and the guy that was serving us, although not perfect was trying. It is a shame because I had wanted to try the restaurant a while and was given a cmcoucher through work as a bonus. But unfortunately won't be going back.

9.5/10+1Food is excellent - the chef is clearly very talented and creative. There were a few glitches with the service - no one to greet us when we arrived, a bit of a wait, a more expensive bottled water poured when not requested - but no matter, we had a good time and the food made it worth it.

10/10Superb little restaurant tucked away down a side street. Incredibly attentive and polite staff ready to engage in conversation or scurry away. Lovely atmosphere in unique decor and THE FOOD….wow! Beautifully presented and high quality - a party for the palate.

10/10I can’t praise The Elder more. The food is simply wonderful-we had the tasting menu and our waiter was like an old friend-knowledgeable and great fun with a clear love for his job. Best place to eat in Bath; we love it and return regularly.

6.5/10Stand out food was Roast Venison. Sadly the Roast Beef was far from tender, quite tough and lacked taste (relatively). Roast potatoes over done. Had to remind them of our drinks order. I would have appreciated them checking if I still wanted desert, but they served it before we had finished eating the main course!

10/10Thoroughly enjoyed our experience, from the greeting to dessert. Definitely make reservations as they had a full house. They do have a beautiful full bar though that would be lovely to drop by for cocktails. We choose from the a la carte menu, but they have 2-3 course fixed menu options. First they serve you house made bread with a portion of beef & venison broth for dipping. Amazing flavor! As a starter we chose the crispy artichoke appetizer, which was surprisingly more of a soup and absolutely delicious. For the main we chose the Mallard with lentils and the mushroom risotto. Both were outstanding. For dessert we shared a blackberry tart with blackberry sorbet that had a super crispy, light crust, and lovely custard filling. Delicious!.They have an adequate wine list, both glass & bottle options. We chose a Pinot noir from Marlborough that was so good with both the duck & the risotto.If I lived in Bath I would dine at the Elder on a regular basis. As a visitor I feel fortunate to have had the luck to pick The Elder for a wonderful evening & dining experience.

8/10Great service and ambience. Nick, one of the waiters, was truly entertaining and welcoming. Food was well designed, but on the night badly executed. My pigeon tart arrived half cold half lukewarm, so I did not eat it. The venison was great but again the mash arrived lukewarm towards cold, hence taking away pleasure.

9.5/10The dishes both of us ordered, especially the wood pigeon pastrami, belly of lamb, cherry claffouti and blackcurrant souffle, were exquisite, The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and engaging, there were no long gaps between courses, and overall it was a delicious memory.

7/10Everything was gooood! Except the fact that the timing the food was served :/ that could’ve been times more better as it played a role as to how much we could eat :) appetizer came quick right after bread and main was served amidst a long break from the appetiser :/ took too long to come and we were too full to enjoy the main I hope this could be improved as I will definitely be back for more :p

10/10The best Sunday roast I’ve had in years! The starters sounded a bit boring from the menu but were delicious, more interesting than expected and presented with flair, and the pork main had probably the best crackling I’ve ever eaten. The rest of it was brilliant too.
