Lovely window seat by the river, nice wine and great food. Good service, food and drink not the cheapest but definitely not over priced either, especially considering the views. Go, it's really nice!

Bad experience. Service is very slow. Not just with food, but drinks and even menus too. Halfway through the dessert, we were asked to move to the bar area because they needed the table (even though there were 3 or 4 empty tables next to ours and, as stated above, service had been very slow). Won't return and don't recommend.

Pleased that the Fish & Eels is back to its best, have been a little disappointed in the last couple of visits so have not been for a few months. We both enjoyed our starters, scallops and prawns good size portion, duck parfait nice to get enough bread to go with it the grilled half orange added to the enjoyment, followed by sea bass and prawns again cooked well and generous portions, the due of lamb was excellent the shepherd pie was so good with the rosemary really added to the favour, they say the rump is served medium, I would so was closer to raw, prefect for me but for others would may be better to asked for it to be cooked more. Its in sech a lovely spot will enjoy going back soon. It was a Monday night very few tables taken hopefully will get busy again so more atmosphere. If they keep this standard up I am sure they will.

I chose this venue because I was meeting a friend who lived in Bishop's Stortford and I live in Enfield so this was a happy medium. Arrived 10 minutes before and she was stuck in traffic but was shown to my table by attentative staff. Neither of us were particularly hungry so we opted for a sharing starter and two sides, this left us room for dessert. The food was good quality but felt that £27 per head for a pub lunch (one wine and one coke) was expensive hence why only 3 stars for value. Also the lack of items on the menu (steak and signature burger) at 1 30pm meant I couldn't score higher. You are paying for the lovely view onto the river, the beautiful venue and the overall experience

I booked a table with a 2 course priced menu including reference number 1941381972, only to be told it was not available when we were seated. We enjoyed our meal, but was not a good start !

First time there, excellent vegan/ veggie options, great service but it was hard trying to get their attention for deserts so we left. No complaints though, great experience!

When we arrived at Restaurant they didn’t have a booking for us although we booked it on line through Fork. Luckily they had a spare table. We would have been very disappointed if they didn’t have a table for us.

The Fish and Eels has become our favourite local restaurant. The menu is very comprehensive, and the meals well cooked and presented. Lovely welcoming staff, and quick service. Good value for money, too.

The staff were professional and friendly, and our table was well positioned with a nice view. We both chose rib eye steak which was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and altogether a really great evening.

My partner and I had our experience at the fish and eels restaurant upset by the food quality and the amount of choice on the menu that was not available, if we would have had been informed that the restaurant was suffering with the lack of items on the menu we would never had of booked. I booked the restaurant two days in advance if we were informed when we arrived or when we were seated we would’ve taken our trade elsewhere, to a restaurant that had sufficient resources and had the whole menu available to choose from. I would visit the restaurant again but I would call first to find out if the restaurant had a full menu available to the customers. Regards John Wade

Having being ignored for at least 5 minutes upon walking in, we walked around to find a member of staff to seat us. We were given menus that had holes, stains all over them. We asked to sit near a window and were told we were not allowed, as table was set for 6 people and not a family of 4, despite the restaurant only having 4 other diners!! After being seated it took us 21 minutes to get some drinks before we were even able to place an order. Food was lovely and was warm but we had to ask for everything, such as condiments, as no attentive service and totally lack of ambience. Such a shame, as the food was lovely - Can’t say we would return.

I’ve eaten at the Fish &Eels a few times before but this time was by far the worst I’m not in the habit of sending dishes back and the starters were up to standard unfortunately the main courses were not up to standard I was going to send the chicken pie back it was simply very poor the pastry was thick and hard so much so I asked for an additional jug of gravy( it was certainly not jus as was stated on the menu) the filling was two pieces of chicken the size of an oxo cube and not much else , also the mash was cold as it was served to the other diners one misshapen carrot and a few wilted beans completed this sorry offering, I’m afraid that this meal was prepared by someone with almost no culinary skills and certainly no pastry ability whatsoever. I did not complain as it would have been the correct course of action but one of my guests is very autistic and is ver distressed by any confrontation. I did complain to the waiter that the pie was inedible due the pastry being so overworked and devoid of filling. The response was “ok I will let the chef know “ no attempt was made to offer a substitute. I conclude they cannot cope with a busy Sunday service

Probably the worst pub lunch I’ve had in a very long time. Upon arrival we did not receive a warmer welcome, we had made a booking but the staff seemed to almost encourage us to leave. Despite many staff members the drinks took 30 minutes to arrive with other tables being advised to not order further drinks due to it being busy. When we asked to order food a woman said yes and simply walked off. The food took in total an hour to arrive and was almost inedible (we had a burger and steak, both incredibly tough and over cooked). Every table around us was complaining and the staff just seemed dazed and unable to cope - despite it being far from full. Will not be returning.

I enjoyed the meal and so did my and brother, it was to celebrate my mums birthday. How ever , it took a long time after our drinks, to order and to actually get our meals. I noted only one person one the bar, one waitress , which really means clearly not enough staff working, hopefully when we visit again the staffing issue is sorted out
