10/10When I booked this, it escaped me that it was situated in the Café Royal Hotel. What a beautiful setting, on the balcony of the main reception to the hotel; and what history. Adorning the walls are memorabilia of days gone by and the rich and famous, who frequented the hotel. For instance, adjacent the dining area is an annexe that was home to the final performance of David Bowie as his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. Elsewhere, there are pictures of Lulu, Mick Jagger and Lou Reed and many others. We chose to eat from the set menu and the food was superb. Service was swift without being rushed, and tables are well spaced so even when busy there is no feeling of being cramped, indeed quite intimate at our generous round (as many of them are) table. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant as a must see place, and we’ll be back too as it’s just too good for a one off visit. As a post matinee theatre dinner, this was perfect for us, a haven in an otherwise bustling area of London.

9.5/10The welcome was warm and very polite. We were offered a choice of table as the restaurant was less than busy. Service was prompt but unobtrusive. Food was very good, portions were not large but adequate. There was a mix up over the bill which was a nuisance but we can live with. Not cheap but what one would expect for the venue and quality of food.

9/10Fantastic quality exquisite food. Lobster delicious- only observation is that tools should have been provided to eat lobster! Or it should have been prepared to eat it. Very good service. Be prepared for high service charge! But 50% off offer was a gift.

10/10A warm and relaxing atmosphere within a very classy venue. There was excellent attention to detail by the waiting staff, who kept a wonderful energy throughout the dinner. The food was delicious, our table had the linguine, sea bass and the tortelli, as well as some sides; each dish exceptionally flavoursome and well portioned. The desserts are certainly worth a try too ! This place is definitely worth the visit on a special occasion.

9/10attentive service and food was generally excellent except for a horrendous eclair as dessert. Head waiter tried gis best to make up for it by offering complimentary coffees, which was appreciated and a made sure a nice evening ended on a positive note.

9.5/10From the moment we stepped foot into Cafe Royal the experience began. An exuberant grin welcomed us, followed by a cheery walk to our table, with every member of staff passed making an effort to welcome us. In the restaurant, our hosts – and soon to be friends – Showmo and Sacha, answered all our questions in detail and went out of their way to make us feel settled. Providing rich insights into the menu, tantalising us with the history of the Hotel and oozing friendliness. We where already satisfied, without trying a morsel of food. But then the food arrived. 1 starter, 3 mains, 1 dessert, an unorthodox approach, yet, 2 extremely happy customers followed - the maths adds up. All cooked to perfection with delightful flavour pairings enhanced by the occasional flamboyant surprise. We only wish we’d had room for more. Most definitely will be back, thank you.

5.5/10I suppose a Sunday night at 7pm in August the restaurant might lack a little atmosphere but which ever way you look at it you are sat in a thin balcony above reception. At £60 for 4 thin fillets of sole with sides extra one would expect the highest standards of culinary excellence. The starter was good with the seared tuna just right and a good blend of flavours in the salad under it. The main course sole had to be cut with sharp knife. ALL the food was cold. It is a long way from the kitchen. The servers were very pleasant and attentive.

10/10We have been looking for the best restaurants in town and this is the best restaurant we had during our 2 weeks trip here. Restaurant is conveniently centre located, while modern classically designed and service is impeccable. Most importantly, every dishes all gave us nice surprise despite our expectations already high! We celebrated my daughter birthday there and restaurant specially arranged candle and Chocolate for kids, Thumb up from all adults and kids! A must visit list next time in town again!

10/10Attention to service is a sign of a good restaurant and from the moment we arrived till our departure this was greatly appreciated. Along with great food and a lovely setting what is not to like!
