Good staff, prompt service and acceptable fare. No serious quibbles other than 1) at first we were located next to the ladies' toilets and asked to be moved 2) the Sunday or weekend time accoustics in the dining area, where we were re-seated, made serious conversation increasingly hard to follow. We will be back but during the working week when demand is likely to be less onerous on all.

Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. Only problem was that it became very noisy where we were seated and found it quite difficult to hear each other talk.

Staff were very attentive and polite. I had booked a table by the window - which we did not have. Our salads were good. My reason for the lower score for ambiance was we had an extremely noisy table right next to us.

Maybe because it was very busy, but not as enjoyable as previous visits. Service was slow and food a long time arriving, apart from this a good lunch

As we opted to eat outside we had to place our order for food and drinks at the bar. This was OK but when it came to paying, each separately, there was some confusion at the till. However, this was rectified quite quickly. It would have been nice if our orders could have been taken at the table.

We had asked for the 'quiet corner' in he back and we were able to sit there. The young lady who served us was lovely and cheerful. Because of covid we had not visited the Gate for a while,. It was a pleasure to have a very enjoyable evening with good food and wine.

Amy our waiter was great and made our evening special. Food was OK. Not much atmospheres but we were quite happy as a group. Lots of empty tables guess Covid concerns had an impact.

We were greeted well and promptly seated at our requested table. Menus were circulated and there was no problems ordering and pay at the bar. Background music could have been at a lower volume to facilitate conversation.

It was my husbands 50th birthday and we had a fantastic meal and lovely cocktails, fab staff, only thing that would have made it perfect was if my pork belly had been crispier. We will definitely be back as it was a lovely experience, thank you.

Poor quality of cooking. Starter was OK, but main was poor and vegetable were seriously undercooked. Crossed of our list of weekend venues which we normally visit on a rotation basis.

Having been shown to our table and ordered drinks, we then had to ask for our food order to be taken as no one came. Salmon was delicious but came with only small portion of veg. A couple of new potatoes would have been nice. Also lack of ventilation was concerning as it was a nice day and open windows would have been welcome. Staff were friendly tho.

Nice waiting staff, but request for jacket potato instead of chips was ignored, the bacon on burger looked burned and the food took 35 minutes to arrive. Macdonalds does not make these kind of mistakes.

It's a nice place to go, the food is good but not superb, that's to be expected, it's really only pub grub.! Service is good and it's a nice place to meet friends.The prices are a little on the high side...but OK.
