10/10Asked for a quiet table with easy access, and got exactly that! The staff were welcoming and helpful and the food was a very good standard and generous portions.

5/10Veg with pie stone cold Told waitress..offered to replace veg... declined.. as would have finished pie by time they arrived Spoke with Susie, manager,..well tried to very offensive and bad mannered A CUSTOMER WISHES TO DISCUSS AN ISSUE... REFUSING IS DISGUSTING this was our favourite restaurant, 5 visits so far this year alone

8/10As usual lovely setting and staff Wife thoroughly enjoyed her Sea bass I felt my burger was overcooked as was onion rings Forgot to request proper chips instead of fries Have booked again already.. says it all

5/10Our table was reserved, we waited longer than we would expect to order drinks and food. Starter arrived in reasonable time but had to ask about main course having waited 25minutes. When mains came the avocado salad had no avocado and no ciabatta bread. These items were brought to us after we complained. We have had this happen on a previous visit and will not be visiting again soon. Only two staff were on duty and suspect not enough staff in kitchen either.

9.5/10Restaurant was very busy, so if you are in hurry it may not be the best place to go, but actually in our case it really was not an issue and may have actually improved the experience. The food was definitely worth waiting for and there seemed to genuine concern over dealing with specific requirements. It was reasonably priced but certainly not pub grub.

9/10The staff were excellent. We were shown 2 menus. One of them was festive. My husband ordered a starter and main from the festive menu. Both were sold out Another meal choice I ordered was also sold out but we were not told this before the menu was given to us. One of our friends with gluten-free, and this menu was shown on a handheld iPad which was confusing to use and frustrating. The restaurant is beautiful and decorated really nice for Christmas.

Jam our server made us immediately feel welcome & relaxed. Very attentive. So much food choices but we were there for traditional sunday lunch & it didn’t disappoint. Fresh food, real fires & friendly staff

6.5/10Our first visit was for lunch and this time we brought friends for evening meal, the calamari and prawn cocktail starters were very disappointing, mains were ok. Staff could have been a bit more attentive, no water offered etc, a good ambience and we enjoyed our evening inspite of the food bring underwhelming.

7.5/10Food was excellent but staff were poorly trained and not supervised.ordered a chicken curry and vegetarian option came, had to wait for chicken to be added. Was not charged for the dish but spoilt the evening. It is a real shame that the excellence of the kitchen is let down by front of house staff. This is the second time we have visited and found front of house staff inadequate.

7.5/10We love the Hanging Gate but feel the vegetarian options are very limited. The super salad consisted mainly of watercress and rocket and you had to really search for the extras published on the menu.

10/10We were unaware that The Hanging Gate did a traditional Sunday lunch until we got there, pleasantly surprised, couldn't fault it - well done to all the staff too, very attentive.

9.5/10We have been to the Hanging Gate for many years now and the food and service have always been consistently good. Today I celebrated a birthday with three friends and enjoyed a Sunday roast - the food was wonderful! We felt the service too was professional and friendly and discreet. We will be back soon!!
