10/10Tonight we visited the historical hole in the wall. So-called as the hole in the wall was used hundreds of years ago by people avoiding the press gang and they believe Robert Louis Stevenson wrote treasure Island right there. Back to the food, we had the crab and chorizo linguine with scallops. We also had the belly pork with scallops. The scallops were cooked to perfection and all the food was fresh and very tasty. We followed it up with the trio of desserts which was just right and a good selection. Service was excellent.

10/10We had booked a table in the restaurant but decided to eat in the bar area instead as there was a roaring fire there which added to the ambience on a cold day. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

6.5/10I have mixed feelings about what I'm going to write right now. I want to keep it as focused and concise as I can. I arrived with my family. A spectacular day, and the terrace was inviting to sit. We ordered the drinks, and 10 minutes later they were ready. We ordered kids menu for the little one, and I'm starter for us. We waited 1 hour, and after asking the staff several times (3 times), we received the same answer, that the food would be ready in 5/10 minutes. When I asked for the last time the same manager didn't bring the starter and children's menu within a few minutes, he excused himself on behalf of the restaurant and offered to treat us to the starter and children's menu, which would be on the house. He was polite and committed to the delay, and we thanked him. As is the case all over the UK, there is a lack of staff who know what they are doing and so the service these days is almost always lousy. The food was good, the roast was exquisite, but for the prices on the food, they should have a more efficient service.

7/10I’ve visited so many times and always received a reasonable level of service and on occasion very good service however, today despite booking online and confirming my booking, the restaurant didn’t have my reservation and I was made to feel really unwelcome as I was told they had large parties! This was meant to be a Christmas lunch for myself and a customer. Reluctantly we were given a table after wr had to push do you have a table or not! The staff made it clear that walk ins were not being taken, even though I provided my email confirmation that I had pre-booked, so not a great welcome or start! The mulled wine ordered was virtually cold and the service and the rest of the meal followed the same unwelcoming vain. When ordering food we were told what we wanted wasn’t on the menu , even though it was on the menu and again the order reluctantly taken. The chips arrived for my customers Meal stone cold, the rest of the food was ok. The sparkling water with lime cordial arrived with water with a slice of lime and then finally the coffee arrived also virtually stone cold! I was so disappointed, this was meant to be our Christmas lunch, ended up pretty disastrous meal and made to feel really unwelcome

8.5/10Food was fantastic and service was excellent. Only thing was that the music was a little heavy for the style of dining

4.5/10Restaurant was too loud, we had to shout at each other to be heard, like every other tables in the place, resulting in a cacophony for head & ears. Food was not as good as it used to be, i had the same meal 2 years ago and it was better - the pork belly ; the "crispy" part was actually too hard to be eaten.

7.5/10The staff were friendly, well informed and helpful and the food was really good. There’s a pay and display car park over the road which made it very convenient as well.
