Very pleasant setting with a few of the Houses of Parliament and the Thames Our waiter, sorry, can’t remember his name, was fantastic - very accommodating, on the ball and a The Library are lucky to employ him I’d definitely return, my daughter and I had a great afternoon Thank you
I brought my friend here to celebrate both of our birthdays. I was really disappointed in the service! Some of the lady waitresses were very rude! We were rushed out and the bill came to our table before we had even asked for it! They couldn’t have got rid of us quicker and quite frankly it ruined the experience. I wouldn’t come back. The library itself is a beautiful room so it’s a real shame
Bit disappointing. I have visited this place many many times (probably 6) and it was my go to and favourite place to have tea. There was a distinct change this time. We were early and happy to sit in the bar but thought we'd ask if we could bring our booking forward as storm Dennis was upon us and maybe it would be an idea to head home a bit earlier than expected. That was fine and they could accommodate this. It didn't seem as busy as usual and there were some free tables, some of which got filled as the afternoon went on. The food was tasty but this time there was no savoury scone as in previous visits. There was less choice of sandwiches and actually nothing special or different to a marks and spencers sarnie.3 little cakes and again these were ok nothing too special. We had opted for the free flowing bubbles and I think we got 3 glasses and only then when we asked. At exactly 1 1/2 hrs we were told to vacate our table. Not because it was busy just because we'd had our time. This had never happened on previous visits. In the past my glass was never empty, the staff were fun and friendly and nothing was too much. We were offered some more sandwiches if we wanted them. No refreshing of our tea was offered. when we paid the bill we cheekily asked for a final top up and were given a little more but not a full glass and told we could take it and sit on the sofa's by the entrance, no suggestion of taking it into the bar next door olthough this is what we did and then spent a nice few hours in there where we spent more money (so it wasn't that we were just after a free flowing drinking session in the library lounge!!) It was a 50th treat for my friend and I and to be honest I wont be back. Nothing special at all and such a disappointment.
We were told there was no semi or skimmed milk available. After proper looking the lovely waiter found some.. we paid for continuous cava but only had it topped up twice and we had to ask for a glass.. Afternoon tea lovely..
Excellent location and views. . The manager and Gareth provided an excellent welcome and service and really looking forward to returning
All the food was delicious and the view over the Thames was great (apart from poor old Big Ben and parliament being covered with scaffold at the moment). All the staff were super friendly and very attentive. Highlight was definitely the scones with cream and jam! The bubbly was also delish.
I went with two friends, for an afternoon tea, at 'The Library' County Hall. Food was delicious, service excellent and view of the Thames and Houses of Parliament stunning.
The tasting menu was fantastic, all six courses were perfectly cooked and served and we really enjoyed the evening. The restaurant has a stunning view to the river and Westminster, the service is amazing and we would surely recommend the Library as a very good dining experience.
We went for an afternoon tea and it was really very good. The food was delicious, staff was very friendly.
A very happy tea. Two guests were 15 mins late, not surprising as one was 87 years old. But our time was not cut short. We had a lovely smiling waitress from Greece. She made sure the shellfish allergy was dealt with and our drinks were topped up. The food was perfect, soft sandwiches, light scones and great mini cakes. Lots of it. This is our third annual visit and it remains a present worth waiting for.
Excellent from start to finish - will be back
We loved everything from the welcome, to our immaculate service to the library decorations & of course, the view. The choice of teas was substantial & we managed two varieties each. The free-flowing bubbles were very nice & the sandwiches, scones & pastries all perfectly-sized & matched. We particularly enjoyed the Christmas jam accompaniment. Would recommend this experience of afternoon tea to anyone.
Took my friend here for her birthday. The scones were probably the best I've ever had! Sandwiches were okay but some I felt could have done with some salt or flavouring (coronation chicken and lobster roll were both yum). As it was for her birthday, the staff brought my friend out a special cake with a message on the plate, which was a nice touch! We didn't finish all of our cakes as we were so full but they packed them into a box for us to take home which was really nice. The prosecco and tea were also good. Overall I would recommend to others as it was fantastic value for money, staff were friendly (although a tiny bit slow to notice if you needed something..) and the riverside views were lovely.
Afternoon tea in the library was a wonderful experience, especially in December when it was decorated with Christmas trees. Amazing service, delicious tea and pastries. I can especially recommend the one with the free flowing champagne
Delicious afternoon tea - great combination of tasty sandwiches and sweet treats. Great service, including regular top-ups of 'unlimited bubbles'.
Excellent service. The surroundings are perfect. It is always a a joy able afternoon.
Simply delightful! Gorgeous space. Lots of free flowing champagne!
Really beautiful venue. The view is stunning, food gorgeous but above all the staff were very helpful and polite.
Had a great experience for afternoon tea. Arrived early but was able to go straight to table. Staff very attentive and friendly. Lovely choice of teas on offer. Food looked freshly prepared and very appetising. Nice variety of sandwiches. The presseco was flowing nicely. All in all a lovely afternoon spent watching the world go by on the Thames.
Yes, it was a very good afternoon tea experience
