Great value and fine standard considering the low cost of the afternoon tea package. Enjoyed this far more than other afternoon tea experiences at historical hotels in London.
I can highly recommend afternoon tea at The Royal Horseguards after a lovely experience there yesterday with my 10 year old daughter. The hotel is gorgeous and The Lounge which is used for afternoon tea is lovely, richly decorated and comfortable. The afternoon tea and service were excellent. There is a little publicised option of a childrens tea which for £12 pp is an absolute bargain. Sandwiches with child friendly fillings, scones and cakes plus a drink and it is huge (easily enough for 2 children to share) and allows the youngsters to feel grown up as it is served on the same China plates and stand as the grown up version. We had an absolute blast and will definately repeat this lovely experience again soon.
Good service. reservations is needed.
Everything was great. We enjoyed the afternoon tea. Great tea, scones, and sweets. The place is very sophisticated and lovely. Staffs are very well mannered. Would definitely reccommend.
We had an afternoon tea. I cannot say that I was impressed. The actual sandwiches/cakes were ok. I had the gluten free option and the scones were too small - were like cookies. The overall service was again ok - nothing impressive.
We went for the traditional afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. The scones were delicious, accompanied by the thickest clotted cream and flavorful strawberry jam. The cakes were great too. Service was attentive, even if there was only one person overseeing the whole lounge. Definitely recommended.
The tea and food were excellent. There wasn't anything we didn't like. Great variety in the finger sandwiches and desserts, scones delicious. Lovely presentation.
Tea very good and staff attentive and friendly. The only down side was inappropriate piped music in the background. Very annoying and not at all relaxing as it should be for an afternoon tea.
Gorgeous atmosphere, delicious cakes, wonderful tea. From savoury sandwiches we had, prawn sandwich could be improved by putting less mayonnaise, in my opinion.
Thank you Safia for the excellent and friendly service!
Afternoon Tea at the Royal Horseguards was actually a surprise booking by my would be sister-in-law and I had no idea what was going to be there for us except that we will have British cultural experience of an afternoon tea. Our booking was at 4:30 pm but somehow we (four of us) arrived too early 3:45 pm. We just went in to ask if there is a space in case although our booking is supposed to be at 4:30. The lady said wait for 1 minute and I will come back to you, I have to arrange and clear tables first. I reminded her once again at 4:30 pm. Her 1 minute ended at 4:50 when she asked us to come in as if she was doing a favour to us. Then she asked for the booking which may be we failed to make her understand that we had booking for four (two booking paid in one group, third booking paid individually and for fourth booking the payment we will do here). Waited for another 20 minutes for another guy to come and ask same question about booking at around 5:15 pm (till then we were just sitting and supposedly waiting for the surprise). I explained the guy but in vain. I told him whatever you do, whatever your bill is, I will pay, just dont waste our time. He was insisting that there is no booking for four people. He left. I asked him to say sorry to my mother-in-law which he did but didn't mean it. Then the lady came again and we explained again. Finally at around 5:45 pm the lady brought the tea. And I poured tea to my friends. And, I turned to my fiance and asked, "so, this is the surprise?". Then the lady brought some cakes and pastries which was followed by the bill for which only one person was supposed to pay. I paid whatever was on the bill. Taste wise, I didn't find anything special, neither tea nor the pastries. Some pastries I found to be too sweet. Overall I disliked the treatment by the staffs. Nothing special about the afternoon tea (originally comes from China and was not a British culture). Too expensive as such. I imagine if one person can eat all alone.
amazing
My friends and myself are satisfied with the service. It was a great experience for them as they are from USA. First time to experience the traditional English afternoon tea.
First time we have been here for afternoon tea and it was lovely.
Fantastic experience, staff were wonderful. Daughter’s birthday and they really looked after us.
When arriving, we were greeted and shown to our table -which was in a quiet area of the hotel, and was ideal for quiet conversation and a chance to discuss the formal parade. The selection of sandwiches and teas were a delight, and the service from the waitresses was attentive and very welcoming. The selection of cakes and pastries were varied and led to the time passing slowly - so that we enjoyed every minute of our Afternoon Tea. I will definitely be using this hotel again for its pleasant ambiance and service.
Service was excellent- our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the selection of three different teas we tasted also excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it.
We were shown to a table promptly to an area that only had one other couple there. The section soon filled up and for some reason we were served last with our tea. The service part from this was very good and staff checked whether we needed any thing. The food was very good, a good selection of sandwiches enjoyed the different breads. Scones were fresh and we were given extra jam and cream on request. The cake selection was very good. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Safia gave us an excellent service. The scones and sandwiches were delicious.
I LOVE the Duke of York afternoon tea option. I don’t care much for (anyone’s) tea sandwiches so this sweet treat is my go-to tea spot. I also appreciate that there’s enough desserts that everyone can try their own of everything and the servers are happy to bring more of anything. So many places provide one of each and expect you to split a bite sized portion between 2-3 people. I’ve been 5 time in the last year! It’s where I bring all my visitors. It’s tasty, the lounge and the china are beautiful, and it’s very reasonably priced. What’s not to love?! I can’t wait to book my next trip.
