We (myself, my husband and 2 friends) attended for Afternoon tea with prosecco. It was a first visit for my husband and I but our friends visit fairly regularly and it was them that had purchased the voucher for me for my birthday. The food was delicious.

A really good all round restaurant . Superb afternoon tea ,A great breakfast choice with plenty of hot tea and coffee . The fish and vegetarian choices were lovely . All of the restaurant staff were very attentive and the service was very good at every occasion when we used the restaurant . The restaurant is quite pricey but the standard of the whole dining experience reflects the reason for this.

Food and staff were excellent. Very good choice of sandwiches and cakes and plenty of them. Food was fresh and tasty and the staff were very attentive. Would most definitely recommend the Afternoon Tea experience at the Midland Hotel and will be going back (this is my third time for Afternoon Tea and I have never been disappointed).

Tried to book the afternoon tea experience but unfortunately there was no table available at the time we were, however the lunch was no second best! We chose the beef dish and the lamb dish - both superbly presented and melted in the mouth. Wallings ice cream was gorgeous (as always, my favourite maker, and local) though the brandy snap was a little too crunchy. The waitresses were great and executed extra requests promptly and efficiently.

Beautiful setting for a lovely afternoon tea. Service could have been better. We had to ask twice for the refreshments we had ordered.

A warm welcome greeted us at the Midland Hotel. The service was great and the afternoon tea was of high quality. The hotel was stunning, a beautiful Art Deco building sympathetically renovated. A very enjoyable afternoon.

Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Service was very quick and efficient. Special request of one vegetarian afternoon tea was delivered at the same time as the normal afternoon tea - no waiting for it to come. The food was excellent. Sandwiches were nice and fresh with very nice fillings, and dainty but not fiddly to eat. Desserts were lovely and individually made - not just cut up small. Generous helping of two scones each with plenty of cream and jam and lemon curd. Favorite food was scones, mango meringue on shortbread biscuit, raspberry and white chocolate tart, and the egg mayonnaise sandwiches. Personally I'm not very keen on the smoked salmon and didn't eat my second sandwich. The sun terrace was very impressive, and later we had coffee at the bar which was lovely. I was very aware of the time limit while at the table but we did have plenty of time. Towards the end of the time we ordered coffee which didn't come to the table so because we were then out of time we went to pay. We were then informed that our coffee was at the bar which we weren't aware of. If we had been told we would have moved to the bar earlier. This didn't make much difference but I just thought it was strange. Overall we had a lovely day and the food was excellent.

A lovely afternoon tea at the Midland proved the perfect birthday treat for my 96-year-old aunt - she loved it! Courteous and efficient staff and a lovely view over the sea. We'll definitely be back.

Fantastic. I surprised my grandmother with afternoon tea and she had a great time. The staff where really helpful and very friendly particularly as my grandmother has limited mobility. Loved the view over the bay and the pink profiteroles were my favourite. Perfect afternoon.

The choice of food is excellent and the surroundings are ideal. The flavours and mixture of the food is something I would not try at home. Our main course of lamb was cooked to perfection. The service from start to finish was first class a big thank you to the whole team.

You have asked for feedback, so here is an honest review of how we felt. Overall the food and wine were good. Our experience this time was not quite as good as the previous occasion in November. When we entered the hotel both inner and outer doors were open. We couldn’t close them as they are both power operated. With a temperature of 7degrees outside, we thought it was wasteful and could create drafts in the restaurant. We mentioned the doors to a member of staff who just replied “It’s hot in here and l’m sweating.” No thought of customers views. The first time bread we were given was stale. When we asked for fresh bread the waitress informed us that it was supposed to be crisp, but she would bring a different bread. She did bring some fresh bread of the same type, ie onion bread. The previous time we dined there, we were offered a choice of two or three different breads. It was very quiet in the restaurant. Most of the time we were the only people in. We did get the impression from the staff that they were wanting us to go. They did not say anything to that effect, it was just a feeling, as they were not as welcoming and happy to see us as the previous occasion. On the previous occasion the staff were much friendlier. The food and the wine we had was good and we will go again.

Had afternoon tea which was very nice but last time I had it we got a choice of different teas. We got plenty of tea and coffee though. Only complaint was the very small milk jugs need to be bigger. However they were badly chipped on the spout.

Really lovely. The staff and service were excellent, the views and atmosphere were great. There was a lovely relaxed feel about the place. My favourites were the banana bread and the scones. I will be back again!
