10/10A very good traditional afternoon tea: well-provided and -presented, with pleasant and efficient (but unobtrusive) service. The surroundings are very impressive indeed — even if the Montfort restaurant, and the Stanbridge Earls complex within which it sits are both a little hard to find.

9/10Staff were extremely attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Food was very good although the bread on the sandwiches didn't taste as fresh as they could of which could be due to it being a very hot day. Plenty of tea refills. Myself and my grandaughter had a lovely time. Thankyou for making it a memorable time for us both

3.5/10Service was not very good as we had to ask for sugar which was not on the table. There was not enough milk for tea. Basically we were left to look after ourselves. Not what you expect for afternoon tea. Very disappointing as we had family from USA . We did appreciate that having arrived early we were still allowed in.

9.5/10Everything was really good and the service was really friendly. The only criticism would be the lack of signal (there is wifi). The outside area was really nice with a beautiful view

Thank you for visiting us and for the feed back. Apologies for the mobile signal issues, we do experience difficulties being in the country side. We hope to see you again soon.

2/10No parking. Nowhere near as many green spaces as shown on the website. It’s on a housing estate. Arrived a few minutes early only to be told our table had been given to someone else. Coffee served in a dirty water stained urn type thing. More butter than any other filling in the sandwiches. Stake bread. Stake cakes. Couldn’t eat any of it. Incredibl

5/10On arrival, nowhere to park, immediately in front of the venue. Dropped my wife off to inform of our arrival. Sign posting to alternatives not clearly evident. Found 'visitor' parking by accident. Walked back to venue to find wife not happy. No real welcome with staff very curt and seemingly put out. Our 'Greeter' bellowed our arrival to all and sundry. I'm sure the shoppers in Romsey square were pleased to know we'd arrived. Having been seated, we were asked if we'd like some tea? Seemed appropriate as we were visiting for afternoon tea. There being no menus, we asked what teas were available. Our server appeared to be caught completely off-guard by this, with this being the last question she was expecting. We were offered 'normal' tea, Earl Grey, a fruit tea, mint tea and something beginning with 'M', which couldn't be pronounced! My wife asked whether decaf Earl Grey was available? Another crippler - she didn't think so but would check. One pot of normal and one of Earl Grey duly arrived. Eventually, the food arrived. The unsmiling gentleman positioned our cakes, scones, jam and cream in the centre of the table and ran through the delights on offer. He then pointed to our sandwiches saying - "there's your sandwiches. No peppers, no fish as requested" and left. A run through of what we had been presented with, as for the cakes, would have been nice. We were able to make educated guesses as to the majority - cheese/pickle, egg/cress, pork/apple sauce and ??? the only one causing us trouble being chicken crumbs/wholegrain mustard (maybe) - best guess. A good selection of cakes, the lemon posset being paricularly nice. However, the scones were overcooked on the outside and still floury on the inside. The accompanying jam was either strawberry or raspberry, we couldn't tell, and no-one was going to do so. We concluded it was a mix of both. Whilst the setting was lovely, the table fine, with clean cutlery, table linen and a carafe of iced water on the table, the whole experience was totally underwhelming. Afternoon tea is more than a cuppa and a bite to eat. You can get that down at Joe's caf! It is the whole experience that you are looking for, a chance to feel slightly special and treating yourself. This left us feeling flat. Would we go again - No Would we recommend to others - No Would we recommend a course in hospitality and/or customer service - Yes Score 4/10

2/10We were greeted by a man who honestly looked like we’d interrupted something more important than greeting guests I said we had a booking for afternoon tea at 12.30 for 2 people and his reply was ‘that was good of you’ We were then told that it is impossible to book afternoon tea on a Sunday even though I had email. He offered to squeeze us in for lunch (seeing as though that’s what he had us down for in the first place). We waited for 10 mins no one came back so we left
