9.5/10Great service from Amy when we turned up with 6 people instead of the 4 we booked for. Food was good and our table in the bar area was private and great for conversation. Would highly recommend.

6/10Shame the food didn’t live up to previous visits. Vegetarian options were limited.roast Potatoes weren’t nice. Veggies were otherwise good well but didn’t as an overall meals live up to the cost. Service was fine and the environment is lovely. Missed opportunities.

7/10Food was excellent, unfortunately we were invisible and received no table service throughout, although all tables around us were visited regularly. After 20 minutes of waiting I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The food arrived promptly and was off a high standard. I did however have to go for a wander and find salt and pepper.When the meal was finished

10/10As ever, I enjoyed the ambience of the Old Forge, it has long been one of my favourites. On this occasion I was dining with my daughter in law. I chose the seabass (excellent) and Alicia chose the pork belly (again excellent). However, on finishing her pork belly, Alicia noticed that she had not been served the accompanying pototo dauphinoise. She queried this with the server who of course offered to provide them but it was too late to enjoy with the rest of the meal. The server said she would take them off our bill....and to our pleasant surprise, Alicia's total meal cost was removed. It is a shame some restaurants do not do this as a matter of course. It makes the difference as to whether you return or not. Well done Old Forge, we will see you again soon!

10/10I regularly go to the Old Forge and it's always good food and beer. Good value too. The outide tables are surrounded by the car park, which is unfortunate, but not a deal breaker.

10/10The food and beer are always top notch at the Old Forge; this is the second time this week that I went there with my son-in-law and his baby. Today the fish and chips were cooked to perfection; crispy batter and the fish was not over-cooked (as is so often the case). This might be a regular occurrence until my daughter puts a stop to it!

10/10On a wet, chilly evening the warm log fires were a welcome sight as we entered the Old Forge. The welcome from the staff was just as good and, although the restaurant had just opened for the evening service, our drinks and food order was taken quickly. The food we ordered was delicious (the tagliatelle in particular). We will definitely go again

9.5/10Very good all round. However,a couple of our choces had run out which were the Chicken & Brie pie plus the mini crumble with coffee. However, we shares a crumble between two and were charged the same as a mini crumble plus coffee which was fine.

8/10My wife and I always enjoy going to The Old Forge. Staff friendly and efficient. Interestingly whenever we order a bottle of wine it takes ages to arrive. One of our friends today suggested that the waitress had gone to New Zealand to collect it.

6/10The food was OK but the service was a bit slow on the day we went. We asked for a sharing plate as a starter and that was forgotten about, not a great deal of apology when we asked about that. We also asked for some condiments for ours mains and by the time they arrived we had finished our meals. What could be a really nice pub is let down a little with the service.

8.5/10Had a lovely lunch on our first visit to The Old Forge and the booking on line was easy. It was appreciated that they responded to our request for a quiet table. Food was good and a varied menu, well presented and a clean and welcoming environment. Lovely clean loos as well. Happy to say we'll be back.

10/10My husband and I were welcomed with a smile and escorted to our table immediately on arrival - the atmosphere was wonderful and the log fire was an extra special delight ! Jazz , who apparently was on her first ‘shift’ was warm ,helpful and engaging - she was ‘shadowed ‘ by another member of staff who was equally warm-hearted and made Jazz feel at ease as she directed her what to do. At each stage of our meal we had prompt service accompanied by smiles.

10/10We really enjoyed our lunch here - great menu choices - lovely out door area. Perfect spot to catch up half way for us between houses at Basingstoke and Southampton.

4/10We were recommended this restaurant for its fabulous Sunday Lunch. The service was good until we got served our meal. I wanted extra gravy and some water for the table. We couldn't get service, so I had to leave my food and go into the bar to find a waitress. We had to ask twice for an extra beer and a coffee as it was taking a little long for both to arrive. We were never asked how the food was during our meal. When our plates were collected, Lauren the waitress asked how everything was....we said "the pork belly was terrible, it was extremely tough". She said "oh you should have said (meaning its our fault!) I would have changed it for you" ....our reply, "we couldn't get service and really you could have changed it for a better one?" ....Her reply, "well some are tough and others aren't!!!!!". We were seated not far from the kitchen door and were able to hear all the chatter from inside the kitchen, not a nice thing to hear. Disappointed as we had travelled over a half an hour to get there. Sadly we would not recommend and will not be going back.

7.3/10So having been to the Old Forge in September to celebrate my Dad’s 80th which was lovely Saturday was a bit of a disappointment. The food was lovely however it was clear that the restaurant was overbooked, we were a party of 4 and were put on a round table that was way too small so we asked to be moved, we had to wait half an hour for our table. The staff were rushed off their feet, clearly needed more staff on and there were no fish dishes on the menu as the kitchen had run out. I saw some other people I knew who were dining there and they had already mentioned the wait for a table, the restricted menu etc. So none of this was a surprise. Our meal was lovely however a bit of an anticlimax compared to last time. I would recommend but caveat with our recent experience so that friends aren’t disappointed. Moral of the story don’t overbook your restaurant you know how many covers you can deal with so when it is full then say no more.
