Hah to send two out of three main corses back the Broccoli was so hard you could not cut into it my wife’s roast some items were re heated My granddaughter had sea bass and onion mash again it was reheated And it looked like slops on the plate I have eaten at the old gate at least 4 times all have been great Starter mains and dessert but yesterday we sent 2 mains back paid and left

Awful food I wouldn’t have paid for it usually I would have demanded it to be re cooked but I had already waited so long that I just wanted to get out of there food was really overcooked so dry hardly edible

I have been going to The Old Gate Inn on and off for many years. There does not seem to be a lot of choice but I thought I would treat my Dad as last time we had a roast there is was really good. Unfortunately the roast potatoes were roasted new potatoes not proper roasties- I can only assume they had lots left from the week before and the yorkshire puddings tasted and looked like the instant oven ones. I ask every time to be put into the restaurant side of the building and am always seated in the part where dogs are allowed. More notice of bookings need to be taken. The new manager there is working hard and very bubbly and the waiter did his best but I think was new. I am not sure whether we will rush to go again.

Very nice restaurant bit we waited over 45 minutes for our food to arrive and it was luke warm. It was very busy in the restaurant being a Saturday lunch time but there didnt appear to be enough staff for the amount of customers.

Quite expensive for what it is. Arrived and they had a great choice of beer I’d draft for any lager drinker. We got to sit outside under a shaded tree which was nice. Quiet and away from city centre, however prices reflect what you’d pay in city centre. Food was satisfactory. Chicken and Pancetta pie - good. Vegetable wrap - good. Would maybe visit again.

This restaurant exceeded all expectations. It had been closed for refurbishment after having the front of the restaurant badly damaged. Everything inside was brilliant. I shall definitely be dining here again soon.

The food was good but could of been hotter. Service was good, but there was speakers absolutely everywhere and the music way too loud, it really spoilt the ambience. Music is supposed to be back ground allowing customers to chat, the music was hard to speak over. Had to ask them to turn it down.

I had a hot sandwich which wasn’t hot. Instead of cooking it again it was reheated in the microwave- so instead of being toasted sandwich it was soggy.

The Old Gate Inn improves every time we visit. Everything makes our eating and drinking there most pleasurable. For us the fact they’re also exceptionally dog friendly. We just do not visit pubs that don’t allow dogs in the eating areas.

The tub seats and very small table against the wall were very restrictive, especially as we had our well behaved dog with us. Not very comfortable. Excellent meal and service.

This was our first meal out since last November due to the lockdown so was extra special for us both. Always love coming to this restaurant both for the venue itself which is cozy, the location, the staff always polite and friendly and most of all the delicious food!
