What a delightful evening! Drinks on the lawn, then dinner! So close to the action, but quiet and comforting after a busy day! We will be back during our stay!

Went there 14th Feb I had prawns to start with and my wife had the soup , steak for the main course apparently started off as a 10oz ribeye , absolutly not worth £32.00 I don’t know how this was cooked , it looked like it had been boiled , terrible taste and I left half , tip form the chef don’t put anything on the plate that is not edible , tomatoes atill attached to the plant , madness and pretentious , my wife had the hake , again a miserable portion of hake with baby leeks that were so tough they couldn’t be cut with a knife and fork … sweet course cheap and cheerful , homemade icecream would have been nice , all in all it was too overpriced for the food served , I wouldn’t have objected to the price at all if it matched the quality … but it didn’t , the young man serving was attentive and very good

A real disappointment. Our main courses were lobster that had to be sent back to be served hot. The pork belly was tough and tasteless; vegetables were not fresh. Such a shame as the dining rooms offer a great setting.

The Piano was a lovely place; very nice atmosphere and great service. Unfortunately the food didn’t live up to the surroundings. My wife and I both had steaks that were a bit tough. The peppercorn sauce had no bite to it. The chargrilled chilli veg was tasteless and watery. The drinks were excellent though!

Staff was very well mannered and polite, always there to help, I would fully recommend this area for locals and travellers, food was really good and at a very reasonable price, definitely worth more than a five star, The service couldn’t get any better and would definitely go back.

We dined at the restaurant during the EBOR Race Festival, the food was outstanding and service to match. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in York.
