I enjoyed another good meal at the Pine Marten. I took a friend who had not been there before. She also enjoyed it and commented very positively on the surroundings and atmosphere of the hotel.

Belly pork was so fatty I couldn’t even cut a slice of meat from it. Veg was all very tasty and starts were brilliant. Service was slow but we weren’t in a rush.

Having visited The Pine Marten a long time ago it was refreshing to find everything was as good as on previous visits. It was the first visit for our daughters and granddaughters who were as impressed as we were. The reason for the visit was to celebrate our daughters birthday. Thank you we had a great afternoon with excellent food and service.

The pine marten is my favourite place to go for Sunday lunch Lovely decor and friendly staff and nice food My only complaint was that my food was cold and this is not the first time this has happened. Other than that a lovely meal

We returned to this restaurant as it has always been a good place to meet and have a meal with family. The food today was very disappointing while the meat was generous the roast potatoes and roast veg were hard and the all the roast meals were served without a drop of gravy. When we asked for gravy a single serving was provided for 4 meals. Cold custard served with a hot pudding? The menu prices would indicate that food quality would be tip top but sadly not.

Went for lunch this week with a friend, neither of us had been for a number of years. The place is beautiful, restaurant was lovely and warm, very good ambience and busy for a lunchtime. The service was excellent and all staff very polite. Food was good and a wide variety to choose from. Will certainly come again.

All four of us were very pleased with the food. We were sat at the carpeted far end of the restaurant which was better and nicer for us than on the wooden floor. Unfortunately there is a ‘painting’ on the wall there which has a large ‘halo’ light In the the centre of it. A bit of a gimmick to make it look like the moon in an eclipse…maybe. It was far too bright and very annoying. On the opposite corner another gimmicky one with a large U shaped red light in it which would be not so bright but I would think still annoying if you are sat opposite it. We did ask the very friendly and efficient Romanian waitress if it could be switched off but she didn’t know. Although she did her very best service was slow due to two staff being off seemingly ill. Overall a good meal and venue though.

It took nearly two hours to get hot lunches in front of us (inc the small kids). We weren’t rushing to start with but then the staff weren’t either. Initial small plates were cold and sent back. Our dietary requirements might have caused delays in the kitchen. In all, three hours to be served and us to eat two courses. Granted they had some large bookings, but not really great service and delays were not explained ahead of ordering. We were seated in the booth near the hotels check-in desk which meant customers tended to use that area in front of our table for a chat on their phones or for people to congregate waiting to check into the hotel. Not a pleasant visit.

Changes are a bit too ‘Chelsea’ for a country pub. Lighting was so bad I had to swap places as I was on a spotlight all night and felt the heat from the bulbs. Food a bit disappointing for me but my fellow companions rated it good. Service was fantastic. So glad that hasn’t changed.

We weren’t disappointed. The beautifully newly decorated Restaurant and hotel was beautiful the food was excellent and extremely good value for money would highly recommend to anybody will definitely be going again very soon lovely staff.

I would like to say a big thankyou to the staff for listening and acting on our requests - firstly to find us another table as there were some very loud children next to us and secondly to turn the music down as we were placed on a table under a speaker ! Those two acts of attention made our evening a success and the food was lovely ????

We got to talking over dinner. Turns out the last place we ate out at before lockdown was the Pine Marten. And it has emerged from its cocoon as a glorious butterfly. Food and service both outstanding. We’ll be back!

We had a great evening & enjoyed fabulous food, could have have had a bit more choice for Allergy sufferers no GF choices. But staff were very helpful telling us what was in dishes.
