7.5/10Staff were very understanding when the rest of my party were delayed. Unfortunately the table I was shown to hadn’t been cleaned but problem soon resolved. Main course was served before the starter plates had been cleared. Just little niggles.

10/10Second visit here recently and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. Lamb last time and pork belly with scallops this time. Would have liked more than two scallops tho. Highly recommend the blackcurrant Pavlova. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. X

9.5/10We had lunch in the bar area. The food and drink were great and the pub has a very warm and friendly feel. Open fires add to the cosy atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful but very busy and therefore the service was a bit slow. This didn't matter much because we weren't in a hurry

10/10Lovely setting on the river Darent, there is a ground and first floor restaurant as well as bar area to eat, the restaurant was fairly quiet so we were downstairs as first floor wasn’t open, all very nicely decorated. I had fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, my fellow diners the sweet potato curry and king prawn linguine all 3 of us followed with brownie and pavlova mini desert and coffee. Would recommend

5/10This was my second visit over a couple of years as we were visiting a wildlife sanctuary close by and again it was a very UNDERWHELMING experience. The first visit, dinner, the music was so loud in the restaurant we couldn't have a conversation and the waitress was very dismissive and always in a hurry she'd ask a question but did not wait around for an answer! The latest visit was a disappointment - I have mobility issues but our table was upstairs (I was not aware there was an upstairs) which proved difficult when I needed the bathroom back downstairs ! The toilets were out of action so the disabled one was constantly busy. We had a very nervous first day waitress who was very nervous but very sweet and helpful. Our starters were very nice so things were looking promising - but we had to wait a very long time before mains were brought to us, i had the Lamb requested medium/rare but it was as tough as a leather football, my friend had the plant burger which was stone cold and no fries included (were told it came with chips) my other friend had the seafood pasta which was also cold. We did not have a dessert as we were already very disappointed. Our lovely waitress took our comments back to the manager and they rightly reduced our bill by 50%. For such a beautiful pub and lovely surroundings it sadly lacked the important component of good food.

3.5/10One starter cold and not as described, one side crushed peas, cold. Our server not interested and clearly untrained.....shame as potentially could be a great restaurant as location and ambiance of the pub is fabulous.

6/10The staff were very helpful when we arrived and during service. Unfortunately we were sat at a table by a window and were invaded by ants so we had to move. The view of the river from the window is lovely and it’s a nicely laid out restaurant. We didn’t have starters but the choice seemed good. Three of us chose the curry as a main courses and one chose pork belly and scallops. The curry was very watery, not particularly appealing to look at, lots of red pepper and the rice was clumpy and not very tasty. The additionally requested chicken was ok but not much of it and nothing special, just grilled and laid on top. The person with the pork belly dish loved it so we think we just ordered the wrong thing. The desserts were quite expensive for what they were £8-9 each but they tasted good. £130 for a pint and a half of cider, two soft drinks, a main, dessert and coffee for four seemed expensive for a pub lunch but prices are going up. Would I go back there or recommend it, no. However nice venue for a drink with a view of the river and the countryside views getting to and from were lovely.

7/10Very good fish and chips. Not enough staff and they were overworked, so the service was slow. That's all I have to say, but this webpage is insisting on more words.

8.5/10Whilst The Fork had reminded me about my booking and confirmed it, the restaurant had not accepted the booking and there was no table. They managed to fit us in as there was hardly anyone there! So unsure if there was a problem at the restaurant.? Food was lovely.

8/10Although we have booked online and received email and text confirmation the Plough had no record of our booking which was a bit embarrassing as it was a birthday meal. Unfortunately their heating was broken so ate most of my meal with my coat on. Other than that staff and food lovely.

10/10The restaurant is located in a very picturesque setting by the river with outside tables and chairs for if the weather is fine. The food was excellent, we had the chicken and brie pie, followed by apple and damson crumble and custard. The service was very good.

8/10We always go back to the Plough because we know the food is excellent and the staff are attentive. Today we had to wait nearly an hour for our food due to the restaurant being busy, however the food was still very good.

6/10Nice restaurant in a lovely location. Shame that as soon as we sat down we were told about the menu options that were no longer available. It limited our choices.

8.8/10When we arrived the restaurant was busy so we were told we were booked in upstairs. I didn't even realise there was an upstairs! My fault, not the restaurant's. We explained that my mother - who is in her 80s and is recovering from a broken hip - couldn't manage the stairs so they moved a few tables round for us to sit downstairs. They were charming about it, too. We eat here quite often and the food has definitely improved.
