The food was excellent but we had a long wait because the pub was busy serving Christmas food. I booked online about a month ago but wasn't given an option to book Christmas lunch so we had to choose from a reduced daily menu ( although excellent)

Service was really good with friendly attentive staff. My fellow diners really enjoyed their food, however, being vegetarian, I was disappointed with the lack of choice. There were only two main course vegetarian choices. This is frequently the case in restaurants, particularly pub restaurants. I could have had a plant based burger or cheese and onion pie. If I was vegan there would have been only one thing on offer. I had the cheese and onion pie which sadly was more pastry than pie. Good vegetarian food is not difficult. I would love to see at least double this kind of choice for non meat and fish eaters. Everywhere, not just here. Maybe if I ate meat or fish my review would be better but I don’t. Nor do quite a few others.

We are a little confused though - on the day you visited we had 3 starters and 5 main courses that were all vegetarian - including pasta dishes, vegetarian sausage and mash, and the dishes that you mentioned. My Favourite pub in the world. We went for the special night which was an Indian night. It was absolutely amazing. The food was out of this world or India. They always look after you there. Friendly staff that can't do enough for you. The food was superb and the atmosphere was great. A truly lovely night. Thanks to Gil,Ruby,Gus for their excellent service and to the Chefs who cooked that amazing food. Keep up the good work see you soon x

We’ve been here many times and have never been disappointed. We love the community run feel of the place. The staff are always friendly, food is great and experience enjoyable. And it’s dog friendly too. Highly recommended.

We didn’t have to wait very long for our food.I hate leaving food but the chips on the small fish and chips was still too many for me.I will remember to ask for less next time.The waiter was very pleasant and checked if all was ok.We recommend this pup to visit for a pleasant evening out.

Service was really slow, nobody to meet us on arrival had to go and find menus and our table. Food was a long wait and nothing to write home about

Unfortunately one of our front of house staff was unable to attend at the last minute (owing to a head injury requiring A&E) and this combined with a large number of 'walk-ins' rather stretched our service in the early evening. We ate here last week on a Wednesday and it was really good so we booked again but this time it was Thai Night and it was very busy and noisy and the normal menu was more restricted. While the chips and vegetables were lovely and the fish good, the pies were poor, thick stodgy pastry with very little filling, such a shame.

We had a lovely evening catching up with friends. This was facilitated by having friendly waiting staff and delicious food. At no time did we feel hurried. The waiting staff were attentive but were unobtrusive. Would highly recommend this pub/restaurant

Brilliant pub. VERY dog friendly…as are the staff! The food is excellent. Menus extensive and caters for all tastes. Cost? It is relatively cheap. Ambience is wonderful. I visit every month at lunchtime.
