We ate in the garden which is an ideal setting for lunch when the weather is nice. Good tasty food and service.

I do find that eating at The Rose and Crown is always an enjoyable experience, it’s a particularly pretty setting to bring friends, especially people who live in a town or city. The garden is a quintessential English garden, plenty of seating on warm days. The staff are friendly and helpful and attentive. Today I ordered a glass of Rose… in fairness I didn’t specify what sort of Rose … it was incredibly sweet and it was replaced without charge without and question. Our food was deliver to each of my guests and myself … all at same time hot plates, very hot food, generous portions. Top marks

This restaurant was certainly a step above the general level of pub food but the rather limited menu was not changed during our stay. The meals are well presented and no doubt a gastronomic delight to many but I found them a little pretentious with strange combinations to test the palate. My wife's Wye Valley asparagus, spring vegetables, mint, burrata contained only 3 tips of asparagus each less than one inch long. She only realised that she had been "short- changed" the next evening when another customer ordered the same dish and it was loaded with Asparagus. The level of pricing was consistent with the quality of the meal but a few simpler and cheaper dishes would be of benefit.

In general it was a nice place and a pretty setting. The staff were reasonably efficient but lack lustre. We had the duck which could have been good if it had not been too dry. A nice combination of flavours but I would have moistened the duck hash with a little duck sauce. The chips were excellent but the piece of fish was too small. The cheese board was very good

The restaurant is excellent. It’s set in a picturesque village and maintained well. The staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. They made great food recommendations, backs up by excellent quality dishes and an effort to make sure personal tastes were catered for. This is an excellent team and you’ll love the food.

The food was presented well. However we felt it was very overpriced for what it was. Batter on the haddock was very fatty tasting and overpowered the meal

It is always a joy to have lunch at The Rose and Crown. The setting is sublime in its rural simplicity. On a hot summer's day, there can be no better place than the relaxed and naturally beautiful garden. On cooler days, the log fires and charming interiors tick all boxes well. The delightful and considerate staff are more like friends as they care for all the guests in a helpful but never patronising way. Then comes the difficult decision on deciding which dish to choose. Everything is so delicious and well-considered by the brilliant chef. Well balanced ingredients used so imaginatively to yield truly enjoyable treats in every way. The portions are generous without being too much. The food for the whole table arrives simultaneously and silence descends as everything is savoured. The wine list is excellent and will not break the bank; the end bill is surprisingly low for the superb experience.

We went here with another couple and had a lovely evening. The menu was varied, the food delicious and beautifully presented and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were seated fairly close to the bar so it was a little noisy at times but overall, the evening was very enjoyable.

We came for Easter Sunday lunch and as usual the food was marvellous. The roast beef melted in your mouth. The staff were kind and helpful and very welcoming. We love this restaurant and it never disappoints us.

Booking service was excellent. Staff excellent. Venue excellent as always. The menu was limited in comparison with how it used to be. Winter menu used to be strong in game and dishes not found on ordinary pub menus but this time it was same as everywhere else and the wine list was very limited in comparison with previously: my old favourite of Villa Caffagio gone too. No complaints but it has left the ranks of the exceptional and joined the ranks of the just fine.
