The Royal has undergone a few changes of ownership in the last few years, but at last Wallingford has a first class restaurant serving delicious food at reasonable prices. Our party of 3 all had different dishes and they were all delicious. One person is vegetarian and she said that it was a relief to find a menu with such tasty vegetarian options. We'll definitely be going again.

Another lovely evening in The Royal- a Christmas celebration with old friends. The table was pretty and festive and the meal as always was really tasty. Service was friendly but discreet and our meal was also very reasonably priced. Thank you Basil and Team Royal.

The food was superb and the service was fantastic. A great selection of beautifully presented dishes. What a lovely relaxing atmosphere! Leaving with full belly's and big smiles. Will definitely be back!

Excellent all round. The only thing that does annoy me, it seems to happen at most places now, is the discretionary % service charge. If I want to leave a tip, I will. I think restaurants hope that customers are too embarrassed to tell them to take it off ! Oh..... and my wife isn't a 'guy'

We had open minds and found it all better than we thought it might be, We were impressed by our waitress and by Jake. The food was tasty and well presented , gravy in a little jug much appreciated as sometimes food comes in a lake of gravy . Thanks from a gluten free person.

There was a nice buzz about the place and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Menu was varied with a good choice of dishes and all delicious. Toilets were spotless too. Overall a lovely evening enjoyed by us all.

Wonderful food at reasonable prices. The flavours were delicious in all the various dishes ordered by our party. Service was friendly and timely and added to our overall experience. We'll certainly be back (hopefully when it's a bit quieter!)

Despite changing our number fairly late, our welcome was great (somewhere to hang coats would have been good as the weather was awful) The service was good and our waiter was lovely,; food excellent. Will definitely be going back

Having only recently moved to Wallingford, we wanted to take my parents somewhere a bit special when they came to visit. The service was great, all the staff are really friendly. The food was absolutely beautiful and really reasonably priced. We will definitely be back for more!

This was our first visit to the newly refurbished Royal Standard and it did not disappoint us. Lovely sunny garden, fresh, interesting interior with a gastro pub vibe. Food is good quality, traditional english, high end pub grub, presented and served beautifully. Service was excellent. Friendly, helpful and experienced table hosts and bar staff. Would not hesitate in returning.
