We loved our afternoon . The restaurant was extremely busy largely with people having Cream tea for two at 1pm!! We ordered from the menu and had a delicious light lunch which included a main and a dessert . Service was very friendly and helpful but incredibly slow presumably because of staff shortages on a bank holiday .we will definitely come again. It is a very pleasant light and airy restaurant with a great view of the golf course and countryside .

Really tasty food, moderate portions, very good service . Calm, quiet atmosphere to eat in. Very pleasant lounge, with log fire, to relax in after meal with a coffee.

Nice restaurant. Not too formal, with good lighting, making it feel warm and friendly. We enjoyed our three course dinner. Excellent food, and beautifully presented. I asked for a ‘cozy table’ as it was our anniversary celebration, and we got one! Service good. Staff friendly. At the end of our dinner, we were presented with a plate of truffles to celebrate our night, a lovely touch!. Nice experience all round.

I have always had a very good experience when visiting the Shelbourne Restaurant at Bowood. I have been several times for Sunday lunch, but this visit was the best by far. Excellent service from the moment I arrived, enjoying a glass of wine at the bar whilst waiting for my friend to join me. The food was excellent, my Salmon was cooked to perfection and all the accompanying vegetables were simply delicious. It was great to be able to enjoy our desserts sitting out on the patio and enjoy the sunshine. An excellent afternoon and I thoroughly recommend for people to visit this fabulous restaurant and hotel.

A pleasant experience, with views over the golf course. The staff were careful to avoid onion, to which I'm allergic, in my food. The desserts were exceptionally well presented.

A very enjoyable relaxing Sunday Lunch. The service was very good and the food was excellent. It was really good to be able to just sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the restaurant and it's surroundings whilst enjoying the excellent food and drink.

The resturant is set in a hotel and spa, on first arrival you are greated by a member of staff and offered a drink. We were shown to our table promplty, the service is a mixture of old style etiquette in a modern living room setting. Food was well presented with refreshing and simple flavour combinations. Good wine list with plenty of options for the discerning palate.

We had a lovely experience for Easter Sunday lunch. The menu and recipes were traditional with lovely twists like rosemary with roast pork. The restaurant was packed and there was a wedding in another part but the staff were still pleasant and attentive. Lovely.

The only problem we had was that although our table was booked for 3.15, it was a Sunday Lunch we booked for. When we arrived, I was told Sunday lunch had finished and had to wait for the staff to confirm with the Kitchen that it was still available for us. We did get our Sunday lunch and it was very good, possibly the best sunday roast i've had for a long time.

The restaurant was very clean and the decor was beautiful. Although we had booked we were shown to our table which sadly was not laid up for us. We were not asked if we had any allergies. When our food came we had to ask for cutlery. The starters bread was pre spread and the bread looked like ordinary shop sliced brown bread. We chose steak but had no steak knife . We were not offered any condiments. We had a gift voucher for a Sunday Lunch but it was not clear if this was for the 2 or 3 course meal and when we enquired the staff were unsure and did not seem to know or how to check. We were told it was ‘probably for the 2course meal’. We both felt that the staff serving our food were not very attentive and lacked good customer, they did not smile their body language was not open. I particularly felt they we were in the way. We were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menus but not asked if we wanted anything else. We asked for a coffee and tea and then had to ask if we could sit in the lounge area. The bar staff and receptionists and the young lady that welcomed us in the dinneing area, Rosie’ or a name similar was very polite and engaging.

Second time at this restaurant which is in a beautiful setting and lovely and spacious in these COVID times. Food and service were both very good. My only slight complaint is it was all a bit too quick. From arrival to having three courses was barely an hour. The pacing for an evening out could therefore be much better. Apart from that all good.
