5.5/10The menu on thefork.co.uk was very inaccurate and an awful lot of the choices were not available. One of our group was vegetarian and her food looked like it was the last portion, and small at that, thrown into a dish. Chunky chips were very good, and piping hot. Some confusion about our drinks order, but soon sorted.

3/10I have been going to The Smugglers Inn for a few years and have never been disappointed. This evening the food was awful. The fish batter was greasy and the chips too big & also greasy. There was very little fish inside the batter. Very disappointed with it and to be charged £15 per meal was an insult. I couldn't eat the batter and left most of the chips. Would not recommend at all.

9/10We had Cod and chips this guy can cook delicious food his homemade Tartar sauce mixed with a generous size cid with homemade thick cut chips. Friday night and most of the restaurant was full which made a good atmosphere. we have never made it to the sweets menu portion size is very good. All very clean inside always s good dinning experience when we are down this way.

4.5/10The food wasn't as good as we'd hoped. Medium steak was well done and chewy. Chips were very salty for all dishes and a prawn cocktail was prawns in a lettuce leaf . Very expensive for what it was

6.5/10Have been to the Smugglers Inn a number of times over the years. Nice welcome here and service was fine. Food was ok, basic pub grub with no frills. Chips were too greasy and batter on fish overcooked. Gammon was tasty but chips greasy.

7.5/10We had booked a table but we were left standing waiting for more than 10 mins. There was only 1 person serving at the bar and no one to attend to us. We had to catch the attention of someone in the kitchen to get any attention at all. Once we did, we were seated quickly and our food was good. Service generally seemed chaotic though with some people waiting a long time for their food. All the staff were however very pleasant. Not enough people and inadequate supervision.

4.5/10The food tasted nice but we both caught a tummy bug from this place on the first night of the holiday, and were not 100% well for the entire weekend. Keep away!

10/10We've just had a lovely roast dinner at The Smugglers Inn. Great service and great food, and we were able to take our 3 dogs. Would highly recommend. The bonus was they accept yums so we had the entire meal for free.

9.5/10Sunday lunch time roast was excellent with a good selection of perfectly cooked vegetables, including cauliflower cheese. Doonigans ale was a beautiful light bitter for the summer months. The ideal table inside had been chosen for us to meet our requirements. Quite an alarming set of stairs down from the front entrance to the bars and restaurant. But there is an alternative ramped way to the beer garden, which has lots of garden benches to seat large parties outside in the dry warm weather, and provides an easier way inside for any who struggle with stairs. Very dog friendly, with all well-behaved types attending. Also. One of very few venues in this area that accept the Yum discount points. I suspect trade may be seasonal, and the venue may become very busy over the next six school holiday weeks.

6.5/10Service from staff was lovely. Restaurant layout nice. Was quite cool Inside though, was a sunny day but still chilly as February. A little more heat would have been good. Dinner was OK. Vegetables were lovely but roast potatoes disappointing, not fresh roasted, bit hollow, overdone. I love roast turkey but meat on offer was beef, pork and gammon. Yorkshire was huge but cold, I would come again because staff were friendly and, if you have dogs, they can go inside the pub which is great. Don't think I would have a Sunday roast next time though.

5.5/10I booked this venue for a valentine meal as my wife and I had done so 40 years previous the starter we chose was the seafood plater for two, the prawns that were on a bed of lettuce had been washed under the tap therefore they had no taste, the salmon tempurah prawns and squid was fine there was also a lobster on offer which had to be booked in advance but no mention of this on booking or visit prior to meal, the main course we had was a 16 oz steak for two which had been sliced both ends had tough gristle and unable to eat the rest was fine this came with mushroom tomato thick chips and a bernaise sauce which was lovely and the sweet we had was lovely but no effort was made for it being a valentine meal
