Lovely food in a very pleasant environment. Good service. Thoroughly enjoyable. Reasonably priced. A varied menu with lots of fresh fish options.
What an amazing place. The food was fantastic and Michael our waiter was a gem. Great atmosphere and wonderful decor. We had game burger which was out of this world. Salmon and the lamb - perfection!
Fantastic, amazing food Lovely Service. Highly recommend and would return. Scallops and pork belly dish was just Devine. Decor to high standard
Lovely meal for my mums 70th birthday. Staff were excellent and food was great. All tasted fresh and restaurant very well organised. Lovely lunch, would recommend and will be back.
The Star is a lovely restaurant, with excellent and imaginative food prepared using local ingredients. The “wild game burger” (on that day’s Specials menu) was particularly delicious. Service was spot-on too - attentive without being intrusive, and very friendly. This is a real gem and thoroughly recommended.
A very nice meal. The service was great. It’s pricey but this is reflected in the quality of the food. Good wine selection. The lobster risotto was a hit.
Upon arrival we were accompanied to our table and our evening began. The staff were attentive, polite and friendly. The menus looked fabulous. The food ordered was excellent and the price was very good. Enjoyed our evening and would definitely recommend to everyone. Thank you The Star in The Harbour!
We were made very welcome, we had a dog and a six month baby. The staff produced a high chair and a bowl of water for our dog without being asked. Very friendly atmosphere and great food. We will be back.
Nice relaxing atmosphere. Service very good without being over intrusive. Our food was delicious and we had a lovely evening. Will definitely visit again
The staff were very lovely and when they realised our desserts had not been given to us they were quick to rectify things (as rest of our service was very prompt). Our water was good and I ordered a cocktail (twinkle twinkle) which I thought went wonderfully with my fish courses. I thought all my food was good quality and executed to an great standard. My only real issue was myself and my dad thought there was too much anchovy in the north sea fish rockpool dish, as it felt very salty even with all the sauce added. I just made sure to eat with plenty of mash to make sure it wasn't too overpowering - still very lovely tasting with obviously good quality produce. I've never had a scallop actually and it was my first good experience with one. Atmosphere was wonderful, especially as it got later as there was less disturbance from younger children (we finished by 8pm).
The decor of the place was beautiful, fresh and clean and there was a great atmosphere. Our waitress couldn't have been more careful, friendly and attentive - service with a big smile! The menu was very intriguing, with plenty of options for vegetarians, meat and seafood lovers. And when the food arrived, it tasted absolutely gorgeous. Nicely presented, lovely flavours and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.
I had the Halibut on the specials, which was very nice, however my Husband had Haddock and Chips, the chips were greasy and the batter was not cooked fully. We did mention it to the waitress and she offered a free dessert, which we declined but did have coffees which we were charged for. In a town like Whitby, where every were you look there is someone selling fish and chips you can not afford to get them wrong.
Our second meal here and we tried the seafood platter for two, very fresh, we think the fish goujons were out of place but otherwise meal was lovely. Would recommend, staff welcoming.
We had heard about this restaurant but our expectations were widely exceeded. Staff was attentive and warm and food was gorgeous. TOTALLY recommended!
First time here and certainly won't be the last. Sevice was very quick and freindly. The food was amazing, great ambiance good value for money, can highly recommend
Reserved a table for the first and last night of our holiday. Food was really good and the staff/service was exceptional. My husband was on a disability scooter and we had a dog and the place was perfect for us. Not the cheapest but worth it.
We had a nice table in the window. A well designed restaurant with good service. My husbands langoustines were very small and disappointing but apart from that the food was very good.
The meal was ok nothing special, would have expected to see more fish dishes on the menu. Service and atmosphere were great.Wouldn't rush back a little disappointing after the reviews I had seen online.
We thought our starters and mains excellent ( lobster risotto, gin and tonic cured salmon and rock pool fish, surf and snout ) the specials desert of Eton Mess was a let down and not the ingredients as described on the menu. Although the kitchen was informed of our disappointment we were given no explanation, therefore we feel customer service could be improved.
Lovely food. Huge portion of fish thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Would definitely come again. Prawn cocktail starter was especially good.
