An excellent meal, very attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. It made a great start to the Christmas break and we will definitely be back again soon.

The Sunday lunch was delicious. The beef was tender and pink and the cauliflower cheese could have been served as a meal in itself. The Star Inn the Harbour was warm and welcoming on a grey wet day. We could have stayed all day.

Very good food and service. WE really liked the ambiance and it was tastefully decked out for Christmas. Shame there were so few people in the restaurant - only 3 other tables while we were there. Only one small issue - My wife is coeliac and she was told the Sunday roast option could be served GF - what she wasn't told was she wouldn't get the Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese. Would expect to be warned and/or offered alternative. Other than that, all very good.

Excellent. Clearly they are working under difficult conditions at the moment but the staff dealt with this very professionally.

Having visited sister restaurant in York our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed at the entrance and then to reception, checked in and shown to our table, all Covid compliant. The menu was varied and full, difficult to choose, but eventually chose the mussels, followed by lamb rump and a delicious ‘carrot cake’, excellent food. Staff were attentive and friendly, helped us choose our wine. Will definitely return on our next visit to Whitby. Thank you for a splendid evening.

Beautiful food, wonderful staff and COVID measures spot on. Docked one star for service only as we had to wait a while for our food. Will be back again on our next trip to Whitby!

When visiting Whitby we love to eat here. The menu suits our palette and the food is fresh and well presented. The portion sizes are just right for us as we like to enjoy 3-4 courses. The informal setting suits the location and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. The service was very good on our recent and the staff friendly.

We were booked in at 5.39 but went at 5pm and they were so accommodating. Waitress was fabulous, can’t remember her name, but she was fab! The food was delicious - hubby had lamb and I had steak. There were lots of people in, even though it was very early so there was a great buzz. Would definitely return and definitely recommend!! 5 stars ????

A really lovely evening despite Covid. Staff were attentive and there was a lovely atmosphere. Our food was very good though perhaps not quite as good as I had imagined it would be. The rump of lamb and the sea bass dishes were a highlight but the starter croquettes lacked flavour. A nice wine list and pleasing to be able to buy many by the glass though this does inevitably lead to some being rather 'flat', we wondered how long the bottles had been open. Literally no nose and no depth of flavour. These are minor niggles though, I'd return in a heartbeat.
