The service could have been much more efficient, and more sincerely friendly. We were only given the wine list 30 mins after we’d sat down, and in the same moment told we could only be at the table 1hr 45 mins. When that time was up, there was anyway noone after our table. The staff were also not genuinely friendly.....people do not one that. The food however was really good.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE, LOBSTER ROLL WAS DELICIOUS, LOVELY RESTAURANT, BEAUTIFUL LOCATION AND VIEWS, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND, WE LOOK FORWARD TO VISITING AGAIN
We were looked after really well, great service, menu had lots of choice couldn't choose between lobster and fish - went for lobster which was amazing. My other half had steak and chips, also really good. Good wine list too, will definitely go back when we are next in Port Isaac.
The restaurant was highly recommended to us. It did not disappoint. Hosting very professional with a twist of fun from the staff. food was amazing. atmosphere was excellent.
We are local and have wanted to eat here for a while but its a bit more expensive for a family, so took advantage of the half price govt deal. We found it all a bit bizarre, the atmosphere, the service, the food. Very limited options for a vegetarian, not keen on risotto so asked for a salad (as no salads on the menu which is all i usually eat?) , but was told they could double a side salad which sounded a bit plain. Opted for the cabbage dish which was the strangest mix of flavours i ever tried. Ate half and left it, asked for a portion of chips instead. The children enjoyed their kids meals and desserts. My husband had lamb which was tasty but came with no veg or chips or sides, so was just a plate of lamb. Very poor value for money, overpriced, such a shame as we will probably not return! There are many other lovely places near us to eat selling better food/menus and nicer atmosphere for half the cost. It was a shame as its a lovely attractive hotel.
Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh useless ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh horrible terrible awful nasty disgusting awful ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh
When told you only had 2 hours to eat even before sitting down was not the start to the evening I expected but thought it would be long enough.everything about the evening was ish but the final nail to why I would never return was with 20 minutes of the two hours left we ordered coffee to be told that would take ten minutes and would we mind drinking them on the terrace at this point I pointed out it was raining to which the reply was there are umbrellas over the table!!!! And would love to know why you can swap fat chips for skinny fries but not potatoes would not recommend
Amazing staff so friendly and helpful.
Lovely, if a little quirky decor, amazing food! The young lady who was serving us was a little intense, but very attentive.
Excellent service, lovely atmosphere. I ordered mussels to start which were amazing, with roasted blonderay wing, as I had never tried it before. Think it's fair to say that this is an acquired dish; it left a very nasty taste in my mouth and had what I can only describe as an ammonia smell and taste. I couldn't eat it. Surprisingly, they ran out of Prosecco after only 2 glasses, and the draught Moretti lager my husband was drinking, which was very disappointing. Don't know if we would consider a return visit.
The food was good and staff friendly. But ... we saw no cleaning of tables when people left this must be dealt with ASAP with covid..... we must keep restaurants clean people must just wait for tables .
What a lovely place! Easy to find and a big car park nearby. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, amazing views, great service and delicious food! It is a must go if you are in Port Isaac. They catered well for our children with special dietary requirements too
The views were exceptional. The staff were helpful and tried their best to look after us. The food was great, very delicious. All in all superb little place.
On the evening we visited it appeared quite obviously that there was only 3 serving staff who were totally rushed off there feet! They continued to serve with a smile and very professional at all times, although it was clear they were under immense pressure. They deserve a massive pat on the back!!! Thru this we had a wonderful evening and total compliments to the chef too.
Excellent food, service and location.
Loved it all. Portions of sea trout and lamb could have been a bit bigger
Having eaten, we looked at reviews for The Stargazy Inn. We were amazed to see how many good reviews there were, as unfortunately this was not our experience. However, there were some reviews that matched ours exactly. All had booked the a la carte, and we can only conclude that had we booked the taster menu our experience would have been better. To be offered only two choices for starter, mains and dessert was our first disappointment. Not much of a choice! The food we had was minimal. We expected the dishes to be small, and expected to be quite happy with this. However, there is small and there is tiny! We can only assume they were the same as the taster dishes, which would have been fair enough, but not for a la carte. We were very disappointed, and although we have smaller appetites than most people left hungry. We had previously eaten at Rick Stein's Sea Food Restaurant where their dishes were equally good but of an acceptable size. We left Stein's happy to pay for the good quality food we were given; we left Stargazy angry at paying a similar price for what we had. Sheila Ronan
It was extremely disappointing. The a la carte menu isn’t really that, it’s a choice of two starters, two mains and two desserts. The portions are insultingly minute and very expensive. We felt that we had been ripped off. Food tasted ok.
The marmite starter was a strange choice. It was very good as marmite on toast goes but I do not want that for dinner and in my opinion it did not "go" with the rest of the courses. You would have been better off starting with a pate or a small risotto maybe. The rest of the courses were magnificent, well balanced and full of flavour. Left a big impression. Scallop perfectly cooked and the oyster was the perfect compliment and I thought the tomatoe dish was positively inspired, incredible flavours. The fish course was equally magnificent as was desert, The peanuts in the desert should not have worked but it did quite brilliantly. The lamb dish was good but on a big plate the component portions looked very small but the taste was again excellent. That meal reminded me of the first meal I had with a then young Nathan Outlaw at the Black Pig in Rock. I knew then he would make and so will our new kid on the block if he can survive winter. The restaurant is small and when full is a bit noisey but I can forgive anything for the quality of the food. Music may be a bit load and the choice of music seriously questionable. Maybe netter with no music or a bit of soff jazz The staff were friendly and knowledgeable so no problems there. Might have ben nice to go into the bar area for a drink first. I think you might be missing a trick there. Am already telling all my foodie friends so don't give up. It was a very pleasant surprise although my wife thought she was going across the road to see Nathan but even he would have struggled to beat that meal, Marmite on toast excepted. Great evening and at a third of the price of you know who I have nothing to complain about. Keep up the good work Rgds John Wickins
