4/10A fabulous looking pub. Nice greeting but the table service was poor. It wasn’t busy. I had to ask for things or remind staff throughout our meal rather than being served as you would expect. Long delays between courses and I had to get up to get the bill having been ignored. Sunday roast was dry and tough. Such a shame.

6/10The Mary Rose dressing could have more zip. Less lettuce and ripe avos. The chicken was nice and moist but the whole plate of food is overwhelming...less is more.

it was nice and quiet. starter was fine the main course was brought out to soon after having the starter. would be nice if they ask you if you are ready for the next course. otherwise my husband answer I had a lovely time.

10/10Nice ambiance, friendly and super fast service, tasty food, the only difficulty we had was finding it! a light on the sign at night would help! Definitely would reccomend.

5/10Have been to Swallows Return on many occasions but have to say this was the worst experience I have had. Poor service, waiting over an hour to have food served. Very poor excuses give by staff as to reasons. Dispute carried over when bill paid. Wont be going again anytime soon.

5/10I chose to book at the Swallows and my partner was reluctant. His steak was tough and he asked for medium with just a little pink and it was basically raw. free deserts didn't really make up for a wasted main course and deserts were needed because we were still hungry. won't go again, how can a good chef get such a basic wrong.

6.5/10We were greeted with a very warm welcome and were immediately told of a couple of things that weren’t available, which included no pizzas, hunters chicken, prawns and scallops, fine there were plenty of other things to choose from! So we all looked at the menu , gave our order and waited, the waiter then came back and told us there was no calamari, so 2 of us had to change our order, for mains 2 of us had the fish cakes, which I’m not going to lie were awful, you couldn’t taste the fish as it was overtaken by the spices which in turn made them extremely dry! As I only ate half my meal I had room for dessert so we all had a look and 2 of us ordered, I ordered the panna cotta and my friend ordered the caramel torte, the waitress then came back and said there was no torte so my friend chose something else, the waitress went off and then returned apologising that they didn’t have any panna cotta either!! I felt so sorry for the staff but I was also getting quite frustrated, we had bought our friends here for their anniversary and it was turning out to be very embarrassing, I don’t think we will be rushing back anytime soon

8.5/10The waiter Alfie, was a delight! Very handsome and attentive, definitely will be visiting again to see him! Only slight let down was that the fish cakes were seasoned with something we couldn’t quite put our finger on, but it didn’t taste right.

10/10OUR SERVER, LORRAINE,, MADE US VERY WELCOME AND COMFORTABLE, ALL THE STAFF WERE VERY ATTENTIVE, THE FOOD WAS SERVED IN REASONABLE TIME AS THE RESTAURANT WAS BUSY AT THE TIME, WE WERE ALLOWED TO TAKE OUR TIME OVER THE MEAL WHICH WAS VERY GOOD PLENTIFUL AND TASTY, WITH NO HASSLING, OVERALL AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE .HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

8.5/10I went to a Christmas meal at the Swallows Return about 10 years ago and was very impressed by the food, I had a meal there last night and it was just as good. The restaurant is spotless and the staff are lovely. Will definitely not leave it as long next time.

4.5/10Sadly my husband’s steak was tough and it was sent back. We had to wait a long time before his re-ordered steak was brought to the table by which time myself and my daughter had finished our main course. It was my husband’s 60th birthday too! His new steak was better but not of the usual quality that we have had on previous visits. My husband felt that the steak we buy from Aldi which he cooks himself was much better than tonight’s meal.

10/10Wonderful food, amazing deal - £23 for 2 courses including a bottle of wine. Lovely venue. Staff really helpful and friendly.
