The menu was very poor booked dinner for 18.00 and when we arrived the waitress told us that parts of the menu were not available. The menu had only a few selections available which I thought were poor,the coffee machine didn’t work and when my mum ordered tea the cup came out dirty overall not impressed

Very disappointed. Waited quite a bit for service for first drinks order to be taken 15 mins. Had to wait an hour for the food order to be brought out. Had to ask for my food to be heated as Luke warm. quality was not as good as expected for gastro pub style. Didn’t have what some of the party of 8 wanted. Overall impressions what used to be a good restaurant to enjoy a family meal with great service is now drafty, tired decor, poor service and reheated meals.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. One of our group had brought their dog and she was offered a blanket for the seat so she could sit up beside her. Most of what we ordered to eat was good although the steak from the lunch menu was dry and the creamed mushrooms the sauce was a bit runny.

We had an enjoyable time at the Tickled Trout.. The table we were given was perfect for a group of five as being circular it made conversation very easy for that number. We were delighted to be sitting close to a real fire. The menu had a good selection of dishes with something for every taste. The cooking and presentation of our dishes was perhaps not Michelin star standard but, nevertheless, we all ate everything and enjoyed it. We thought your mini puddings was an excellent idea and very delicious but would have preferred them with the coffee rather than considerably later. Our waitress was very good. It is a large restaurant and perfectly presentable but with great potential to look very special and attractive. One day when we recover from the after effects of lockdown and the current financial difficulties I am sure it will be refurbished and look wonderful. Your Ladies room is a good size and well presented. May I say however that we are not all six footers and sometimes we like to tidy our hair but the placement of the mirror at such a height makes it almost impossible for some of us to see what we are doing.. I stress we had a happy occasion and enjoyed our lunch and if I have made one or two slightly less favourable remarks it is only because a review was requested. Thank you to all the kitchen and dining room staff for their attention and care. .

Excellent Sunday roast dinner with all of the trimmings. The food, atmosphere and service were all top notch!! A wonderful restaurant to visit for an authentic Scottish experience.

When we entered the restaurant we were greeted with a very lovely welcome.food was really lovely. Staff where very helpful and friendly I have a food intolerance and the staff could not have been more helpful I really appreciate there help. I am also disabled and honestly the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We will definitely return. Thank you

We've been twice in the last couple of months, including Christmas Eve and both times the food and service were excellent. Christmas Eve meals out can be very hit and miss, often with sub-standard fare, but we all ordered something different and every dish was delicious. It feels like a cosy country pub where the staff really care about their customers.

We booked a table outside, beautiful and peaceful view even although next to a fairly busy road it wasn’t a problem. Waiting staff very attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely delicious; I had fish cakes and my bestie had fish finger sandwiches washed down with a lovely rose’ Pinot. We’re definitely going back.
