9.5/10Very good food, the "special of the days" are particularly good, fresh food, and perfectly cooked (the lamb shank as well as the pan-fried hake). A friendly and efficient service.

3/10The website is misleading, the actuality is nothing like as pleasant. I was kept waiting at reception. The ambient music was very loud. The food was at the poor end of pub food. The wine was pretty awful. Overall ..very poor value for the money. Would certainly never go back.

7/10We have visited many times the Trout Inn and our last occasion was in October 23, and we have always found the food to be very good. However, on today's visit, the food was terrible. All four starters, main courses and crème Brulé were bad! It struck us that for the food to have deteriorated within a few months, we thought the chef must have changed. The location, ambience and service from Kerry and staff was excellent. Very disappointing lunch.

6/10I ate the Roast Beef Duo. Nothing like the photo above. I ordered rare, it arrived over cooked. There were two small pieces of Rib Eye and 2 scrags of tough sirloin. Loads of veg, but very very light on good quality beef. Sorry, The Trout, but you need to do better than this and return to your standards of 8 tears ago.

10/10Booked the day before in the off chance there was a table early Friday lunch. The lady in reception asked where we would prefer to sit.( it was a glorious hot day). We chose indoors. We had a Mezze platter for 2. It was excellent. We also had scallops which were cooked to perfection on a bed of delicious risotto. We took our coffee outside. The waitress was new but did a grand job. Her trainer was patient with her. The restaurant filled up but never seemed crowded. We used to go to the Trout when we lived in Oxfordshire. So it was great treat to go again. Excellent food, great location, great ambience. Staff helpful

8/10this is a favourite of mine and has been for some years . The staff are polite and accommodating making sure that everyone is at ease . Both inside and outside offer comfortable dining. I have never seen it empty which in its self is proof of its popularity It's a shame that the car park gets so full of other than trout users particularly on a weekend where roads were closed. However having been unable to arrive on time our table was secured ungrudgingly . Thank you

9.5/10We had a lovely meal out on the patio at The Trout in Wolvercote. Unfortunately the river bed is being reinforced at the moment so our outlook was was rather industrial. However the service was great. the food was good and not too pricey. All in all a memorable summer's evening.

10/10One of the best restaurants we’ve eaten in for a long time. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food was divine, can’t rate it enough! If you’re ever in the area, The Trout is highly recommended.

6/10The Trout has a QR code system for ordering, however having chosen to eat outside where this facility was offered we then found that it didn't work. As a result of there being no table service outside we had to queue at the bar for quite a long time to order food. To be balanced the location of the pub is excellent and the food was good.

7.5/10Always a beautiful restaurant to visit but not so nice with all the work taking place on the River Isis outside. Drainage and repair work affected the lovely view from the terrace. One of the waiters needed some help with people skills and looking as if he really wanted to help and serve his customers.

8/10A large pub that sits by the River and gained fame as a backdrop to many a Morse episode. Initially had my doubts as the table assigned us seemed too high and chairs too low. Also the latter were incredibly heavy and hard to move. But we survived and the service was swift and polite. The King Prawn started was tasty if the prawns were a little less than kingly. But tasted terrific. I went for the fish and chips option for the main and it ticked all to right boxes. The meal was topped off by a mini desert with coffee that was enough after the previous courses. I had one glass a decent Chardonnay that was not over chilled and so one could taste the wine and not just the 'cold'. All that for two came to £73, which I thought very reasonable. Would be happy to go again.

6/10Terrible roast, lack of vegetables, packet gravy, no crackling wit the pork. I’ve eaten off the normal menu before and it was ok. Wouldn’t come back on a Sunday though. Very disappointed.

7.5/10Nice place and great menu. One problem was that some of the choices we had made were “off” so we had to have an alternative. The food was generally fine but the vegetables were poorly cooked. Potatoes were hard, roast veg tasteless and Brussels Sprouts were like bullets.
