I had the lamb and the Jamaca dessert, both were excellent, one of the best meals out for a long time but my husband had the sea food pancake and didn't think it was anything special. The meal was also quite expensive and although we don't mind paying the little extra we thought the prices went a bit too far. The staff, however were excellent and allowed us to stay at the table for a long time, three and a half hours but it was the first time that I'd been with my brother for over a year.
i heard good reviews but was dissapointed with portion sizes and quality of the food, very average.service was good but the room was cold.£111.00 for 2 people for 2 starters and 2 mains,2 drinks and came home for a snack,i wont rush back.
Booked through Fork for, not aware of last ordering time of 2.15pm. Running late so phoned & were reassured. Lovely welcome & great service. Special birthday beautifully catered for in terms of table decorations & food! Thank-you to all at Wensleydale Heifer!
Excellent food and staff well worth the money the t bone was amazing
From the moment we stepped inside till the time we left the The Wensleydale Heifer was a wonderful experience. Myself and my wife visited for our wedding anniversary and were not dissapointed with our choice of venue. The staff were warm and welcoming our table dad been decorated for our occasion and would like to thank them so much for this little surprise. The food was excellent with nothing that could be faulted, it is understandable why the The Wensleydale Heifer has such a great reputation. Keep up the great work that you all do and will definitely be visting your establishment again. Thanks to you and your staff for a wonderful culinary experience.
Food perfect and generous portions, service very efficient if a little rushed. Maybe the parking should be sorted.
Once we changed tables we had a lovely meal.
It was my Birthday and organised by my wife so lovely surprise. Meal was first class and the service excellent.
This has to be the best place to dine in the Dales !! Even though they had over 90 in for Sunday lunch the service was excellent and so was the food . Congratulations to the whole team who always make the experience special whenever we go .
Lovely food and nice atmosphere. Food is prepared to a high standard with plenty of choice. Staff are attentive and there does seem to be a sense of team work amongst the staff.
Totally amazing meal and overall experience, perfect level of service and simply stunning food Particular brilliant in their treatment of gluten intolerance which was much appreciated Highly recommended
Excellent food in a friendly, relaxed environment.
We have dined at the Wensleydale Heifer several times and have never been disappointed. The staff are lovely and the food is superb..... it's our favourite restaurant.
Food is excellent
This was our first visit. I travelled from Melton Mowbray (180 miles) and my partner travelled from Cockermouth (80 miles) I lost that one! Anyway, we arrived early, went for a walk and returned in time for our table at 1.45pm. When we first arrived there were seats available and we had a quiet five minutes. All was good. When we returned the lounge area proved to be far too small to comfortably accommodate all the guests. The first dinning table we were offered was in the corridor - so not idea. We were offered a second, much more acceptable table. The dinning room was incredibly busy with several large groups celebrating birthdays etc. The starter arrived. The Prawn Cocktail was listed as a 'classic '70s' dish. I recall this classic being served in a glass, with chopped lettuce, cucumber celery and toped with shelled prawns, a whole prawn wedge of lemon on the side of the glass and often sprinkled with paprika and offed with sliced brown bread and butter. The dish that was served was a cereal bowl with some lettuce and spooned over with prawns in a thick and rather bland sauce. Not at all presented in the 'classic' manner. The Goats chees croquets - was in fact one mass of goats cheese rolled and fried in crumbs. The whole tasting experience was limited in texture and contrast. Eating what felt like a mouthful of just goats chees was unpleasant. Several (maybe three) much smaller portions of the croquets would have been infinitely preferable and offered greater contrast of texture and been less overwhelming. Less is often more. The main course, we both had beef was an offering of mixed delights. The beef was excellent - compliments to the farmer and the butcher. The Yorkshires were also excellent. Then came the vegetables. The mashed potato was what can only be described as 'dolloped' into the serving tin. The roasted veg were well cooked and proved to be a pleasant mixture of colour and tastes. see below as run out of characters
First of 2020 but have been numerous times before and it was as good as ever! Service was excellent and food amazing. Love this place!
The most fantastic place! Wow to the food! Excellent service! Great wine!
Absolutely love this restaurant. Superb food, service, and very reasonably priced. I'd travel double the 45 minute journey it takes to get there. It's so worth it.
Food & service fantastic . Slight issue with the table location in the snug , felt a little crammed in . Possibly get seated in restaurant next time .
