We were shown to our table and drinks were ordered and brought to us. Our order for main course was taken about five minutes later. All good so far. Some 50 minutes later we hadn’t received our food and I ask a member of staff whether we’d been forgotten. Then told that order was being plated up. Food arrived with staff apologies. Lamb roast was nice but veg a little undercooked for our liking as usual at most restaurants it seems. Beef was cooked to be medium-medium rare. Not to everyone’s liking especially the young ones. We ordered desserts and they were very good. The waitress told us at payment that the dessert was complimentary for the inconvenience of the long wait. Fair enough and thank you. Doesn’t take away from the fact we appeared to be forgotten. Not likely to return too soon. Sorry.

Lovely atmosphere and great food, we ordered from the App and the food came out so quickly. The staff were brilliant and always asked how we were.

This is the third time I have dined at The Windhover, as usual the food was sublime, the service was first class (thank you Lizzie) and the ambiance was charming. The only issue was the seating. As a couple we were positioned next to the till podium which was somewhat of an annoyance, I do understand that the seating is arranged in order to capitalise for maximum ‘bums on seats’ however this hardly makes for a romantic meal!

The welcome and 'covid safe' support was excellent. Very efficient and outdoor dining spacing was very good. There was a limited choice (restricted Sunday menu), which meant as non- meat eaters we opted for two fish starters each, instead of mains. These were lovely and fresh prawns but salad uninspiring, nice this slices of ciabatta with it. The calamari was 'okay', a little rubbery. My companions really enjoyed their triple cooked chips but again the side salad, could be better, even with a few rocket and herb leaves and a lemon dressing ( just a suggestion). Puds were consumed by all and these were adequate. Pleasant atmosphere and we were surprised given proximity to road ... shrubs and trees do a good job! A great place to relax.

The food was lovely, but the length of time we had to wait was disgusting. Part of a table of 14 we booked a table for 8.15pm, we had been forewarned it would be busy and may be a bit of a wait. However, the waitress ignored us most of the night, we waited nearly 40 mins to order the food after we sat down and could of been offered the menus when we first started to arrive at 7.30. The food actually arrived nearly an hour after ordering, the members of my party that didn’t order starts didn’t eat a scrap of food until about 10pm most of the other tables in the restaurant were leaving at this point. At no time, did anyone take the trouble to address or apologise for the delay. This table had been booked all week, we were not last minute and should of been looked after accordingly. This was a colleagues leaving do and ended with lots of disgruntled people. Really disappointed
