The Wolseley Arms has been our go to restaurant for years and always one we recommend. It was therefore disappointing to experience this last visit with a school friend. I ordered soup which was fine but ordered brown rather than white bread was told they don't supply brown. It was also supplied with the tiniest sliver of butter for two slices of bread but the plate was piping hot and within seconds I had a puddle of fat on the plate. My guest ordered fish & chips and had to wait an hour, when it finally arrived chips were stone cold. Admittedly they replaced the chips, there is no excuse in sending out cold food. I don't eat main courses at lunch so ordered Chicken pate with Melba Toast. It arrived served with the same thick white bread as the soup again with the tiny sliver of butter for two slices. When asked about the Melba Toast I was told that they had run out it is bought in already made. Any Chef can make melba toast even I can! At least they reduced the bill - disappointing!

Ordered a burger and gammon & egg. Burger was really good however the gammon meal had to be sent back as eggs and peas were inedible - looked like it had been under the hot plate far too long. Meal replaced but I’d finished my burger fully before the replacement came out. Staff apologised and gave a discount on bill without us asking. Hopefully a one off but they looked very understaffed. Will visit again and hopefully have a better experience.

A good dining experience l, staff are friendly, service is good, a great selection of dishes well prepared. If bothered by noisy background music a quiet table can be found which is great as not being able to hear one’s friends can make or break a dining experience.

A perfect warm location for a family get together. Menu choices were good and food delicious. Service quite prompt but it was a busy restaurant at the time. Had everything on the menu apart from honeypot desert that alot of guests would have had :-( However all enjoyed and not having the extra calorie intake was probably a good thing :-) We shall return hopefully in the future.

There were a couple of small issues, only the disabled toilet was in operation and (strangely) no tomato sauce; but otherwise really good, nice food/reasonably priced and very helpful and attentive waitress.

We had mushrooms to start with the sourdough bread , mine was really nice , my husbands on the other hand was really salty. And when he said to taste I did and he wasn't lying , tasted completely different to mine. I then had the lasagne with salad and garlic bread, that's was all lovely.. My husband had the signiture burger with fries , and he said that was really nice too. We had some halloumi fries on the side. They was standard but the jam that it come with was lovely.. We then shared a Eton mess pudding , that was also lovely. But a bit overpriced for a pudding in my eyes at £8.50. Drinks wise , I had a coffee which was okay nothing amazing . And my husband had a coke which was normal . The server we had was a young girl with blonde hair , unsure of her name. She was lovely and polite. And made us feel welcome. Well done!!!!! All in all we had a lovely meal. Would dine again.

Unfortunately our main course was cold (we had sirloin steaks) the chips were hotter than the steak & the peppercorn sauce was also served at room temperature! Overpriced & disappointing.

Lovely country style pub with a great menu with open feel but little alcoves for tables, it’s an older building. Mainly patrons eating and enjoying the food. Slightly spoiled by a TVL with a football match on in one of the alcoves

As always, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were warmly welcomed by Chris who, despite being busy, ensured that our dining experience went smoothly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere felt warm and friendly. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future.

Lovely meal. Food always of very high quality. Staff great. Lovely country pub with lots of lovely alcoves and quirky decor. Highly recommended.
