Changes noticed this week (different to last week) - the Yorkshire puddings have improved; the size of the meat portion has reduced and the gravy was lumpy. Overall the meal was good despite the former comments. Regrettably, the ambience was spoiled by some very noisy children but the service and staff were courteous and polite.

The food was of good quality however selection of veg not up to usual standard, e.g 3 different greens (which may not suit all). Few people in at time at visit so was nice and quiet. Service was excellent and staff attentive and cheerful. The only issue of note was the menus were a bit sticky and would have benefitted from being wiped over so they were more clean.

A bit last minute booking, however lovely place to eat, used fresh produce and it was cooked well. Meats were tender and juicy, carvery on the whole was a very pleasant experience, a little warm in there but we can't help the weather. Would recommend and go again if I was in the area.

It was quiet at todays visit and therefore lots of choice of where to sit and found table to suit needs with service being excellent with staff being happy, smiling and obliging. A good range of vegetables on offer and served on hot plates which is always best, however the food itself could have been hotter. Nonetheless still enjoyed the meal.

The table service was reasonably good but as a dining experience let down by vegetables that were badly, some over cooked. The kitchen staff on the carvery service seem to have been specially trained in indifference. For example I was told the plate was hot and the guy wasn't even looking when he handed it over so it very nearly dropped. H&S issue as well as no customer service there.

The carvery was disappointing, the service was slow but welcoming - such a shame. The meat was nice but very thinly sliced, the stuffing was bland, the puddings also bland and the roasties were greasy

Absolutely love Toby restaurant at the barnes in Sunderland, we go there a often as we can. Sunday lunch is always delicious and the service you get is second to none. Fantastic.

Great staff. Great food. Very clean premises. We will be back. I espeyenjoyed the very lean pork. My wife and Mum both chose to have beef and pork. Also a wise choice.

Sadly today was a very bad experience and very disappointing. I had only just started coming back l and it was my second visit in the last couple of months. Today you were able to serve yourself with the veg. I opted for turkey and was given only 3 very thin slices. I have never known such portions. I was with a friend and again she was given the same. Whilst the turkey was tasty and the veg too it was very disappointing. I won’t return
