4/10The carvery was not good I booked a table for dinner at 5:00PM Arrived at 4:50 anticipating the food for the evening service would have replaced the lunch food Although half the meat had been renewed some had not The potatoes and vegetables were from the lunch service I asked the chef if they were being renewed and he said later We all had different choices of meat and the only one you could call excellent was the Turkey I had the beef however despite seeing a newly cooked piece of beef which great I was given 2 pieces of fat and one very thin slice on beef By this stage I had given up and took a small amount of veg sadly the roast potato’s were rock hard and had clearly been warmed up and carried over from lunch The peas, mash and gravy was fine All 4 of us were not happy so although we never complain we felt we had to Most of the staff were quite young (although seemed very good) we called an older member of the team We made our complaint to her and she left we did not see her or a

10/10We tried to come a few weeks ago but it was so busy, so we booked ahead to not be disappointed,, food was lovely, staff are friendly, and the service was absolutely perfect, thank you we can’t wait to come again

3/10We have been to Toby Carvery many times over the years and have never been so disappointed as we were tonight, the look and the taste of the vegetables were just awful, even the normally lovely gravy was tasteless. We had booked a table early in the week, but it felt as if we had been shunted off into a over flow room, luckily we a gift card so at least we weren’t paying for the experience

7.5/10Some some strange choice of vegetables i wouldnt serve with a traditional roast and the mash was not good, needed butter and a good mash. The staff are excellent and the meat and roasts very good

9/10Arriving for our lunch we had a slight wait before being shown to our table . Excellent point I was asked if I would be able to manage the steps to raised eating area . After a short delay our orderv was taken and drinks delivered. Carvery service was quick and excellent selection of hot vegetables to select from. Waitress asked if we wanted desert and happy to answer our questions regarding choices. Yes a pleasant experience,only slightly spoiled by noisy person at another table.

8.5/10Very pleasant staff. After being shown to our table, we were directed to the food. A member of staff assisted my mother who has a mobility issue. In filling her plate, then taking it back to her table.

8/10Michael who was carving the meat at the Hopgrove in York had outstanding people skills, really interacting with all customers of all ages. He really made the evening so so much more enjoyable.

6/10Had the carvery. Generous portion of roast beef (XL meal) cooked to perfection. Roast spuds ok, puddings a bit tasteless not like my mums. The veg was poor, overcooked and only lukewarm. Would like to have had lamb, but they only serve this on Sunday - why? Would like to had a cask real ale, but they have nothad any sincecovid? No guiness no coors, but beer in bottles. Had water. We booked a table, and pleasant staff looked after us. Was quite busy but we had an acceptable meal.

5.5/10Fresh stuffing delivered to buffet area but it was completely dried out and crusty. We have mentioned this many times but the issue is never addressed, the same with the serving utensils being too hot to hold. Served food always goes cold very quickly.

8/10Enjoyable evening. Disappointed that despite booking a time of 17:30 and receiving a reminder from the restaurant on the day that our booking was for 17:30 we were told on arrival that we were booked in for 17:45 and had to wait 25 minutes before we could take our table. Also disappointed with the drink prices. A glass of lemonade, 2 Appletizers and a medium glass of wine for a cost of £15.80 is far too expensive, and led me to think that we had deliberately been delayed in taking our table so that we would order drinks in the bar!

7/10Although I’d booked through Fork and had a confirmation, they had no registration in my name. Fortunately I had the confirm on my phone so they were apologetic and found us a table pdq.

5.5/10We found the vegetables to be very bland the roadies were really well done.the area on the top of the food serving area was a mess lots of stale veg and broken Yorkshire puds casings.we gad to order twice for our sweet after first was wrong and still came wrong on final time (we did ear it)

9/10The meat was perfect but the roast potatoes were really hard. Not the first time I have been disappointed with their potatoes. Well over cooked and dry. I expect better. Yorkshire puddings we’re very dry but the waitress got me some fresh from kitchen.

5.5/10Usual standard of food albeit very busy. Disappointed to allocated a table designed for two but to actually seat 4 and asked to be moved to something bigger. Seemed to be rushed I expect because place was so busy .Not sure I will return again

8/10Unfortunately we waited 50 minutes to get our food. Queued once but there was no veg, so had to queue again. Annoying as we were on our way to the theatre. Staff did apologise

10/10Good place to eat especially if you are really hungry as it is help yourself to the excellent variety of veg. Chef carves the meat and heaps it onto your plate, yorkshire puddings are fab. Lovely, friendly staff. Clean restaurant, plenty of space between tables.

8.5/10The usual carvery you'd expect. Most of the veg was freshly out. A good, substantial meal for 5 of us. We stayed 3½ hours, but at no point were we hurried out. Grant, the manager, was an excellent host

8/10We had a lovely meal we pre-booked our table which was ready on time all areas clean and Covid careful and the staff very welcoming and explain what was on offer we placed our drinks Order then went to help ourselves to the Carvery the chef was friendly, we were then attended by a waiter called Jake very friendly and he made sure we had everything, from start to finish very enjoyable

8/10The food was good as was the service the only downside was the menu did not match the bill if tasters are £2.99 each or 2 for £ 4.99 it shouldnt be too hard to match the menu to the till and show the 2 for £4.99 but my bill was charged at £2.99 each

6/10Carvery ...very tight on the meat side a couple of thin pork and beef pòrtions ...really thin aswell ..come on you buy in bulk don't be so tight with giving
