7.5/10The food was good as always but the service was not good. My granddaughter (aged 6) had to wait for her mac n cheese only to find it hadn’t been ordered. Then we asked for a spoon and ended up getting it ourselves because on both occasions the waitress ‘forgot’. She also forgot our drinks

9.5/10The restaurant was very busy when we arrived for our booking and so we had to wait around 15 minutes for our table. There was plenty of variety at the carvery with several meats and lots of vegetables. The food was delicious and the service was friendly.

4/10I was given a Groupon voucher by my family for my birthday and was really looking forward to the evening. We were warned that the restaurant was having "technical difficulties" when we arrived but that only meant that capacity had been reduced. The first server was very pleasant and took our order for drinks . We chose the carvery and went up to the servery, most of the meat looked a little dried out however when we returned to our table and started to eat we found the vegetables were cold and either under or over cooked and the yorkies tough. We ordered the honeycombe sundae for dessert which didn't really look like it was billed on the menu and as my wife doesn't like a lot of chocolate she left hers. A second server cleared the table and didn't ask why a whole dessert wasn't eaten merely shrugging her shoulders when we mentioned why it was left. We didn't complain on the night as this would seem pointless

7.5/10We arrived early due to other shopping being rather disappointing, we live several miles away, so we had to wait, not a problem, then we were seated at another table early. That was fine, however, several other customers who were smokers kept opening the fire doors to go outside for a smoke, thereby letting in a howling gale while the door was open. Good job it was summer, but it was still uncomfortable. The food was good but I thought the meat portions smallish. The service was fine. Yes, we would call again.

4.5/10We. Frequent the Toby often, but today the food was not very hot, we ordered our drinks as we sat down but they did not arrive until we had nearly finished our main course, the service was not very good as there was only 1 for the whole of our area app 16 Tables, the pudding that I had was nothing like the picture on the menu in fact it was half the size. So as you can see we were not very happy, but paid without a fuss

8/10Food was excellent and carvery chefs were really attentive friendly and efficient. This was all slightly marred by the fact the lady welcoming people at the front door and booking you in was clearly stressed and unwelcoming/unfriendly upon our arrival. All other staff were delightful and food was delicious.

6.5/10The staff are so lovely at The George, kind, friendly and super helpful as to the food: we all had the roast. . My grandaughter loved her mashed potato and peas, plus sausages. That was her “roast” choice. My grandson loved his giant yorkshires, and ate two, his and mine! Plus he ate his peas.my roast beef was quite nice. But my grandson and I thought the roast potatoes were dreadful, and he hated his ham . We all thought the carrots were not too nice.. and overall the veg just needed to be a bit nicer? And the roasties needed to be cooked, not rock hard. So - some good points, and some not so good points. I just think Toby Carvery need to up their game a little? I’d happily pay a bit more, for better quality food? It’s a shame because it’s such a lovely atmosphere and environment.

10/10Lovely carvery, friendly and polite staff, very good value for money,can recommend the roast pork and gammon and the potato dish and also macaroni were excellent.

10/10Had a lovely carvery. Meat and veg very well cooked and tasted as good as it looked. We had no complaints. Even had room for an ine cream. We even had a couple of drinks. Very good value for money
