9/10Twas really busy but we were seated at out booked time. Was a q for the cavery but not too bad it also meant the turnover was huge so everything was fresh and hot. Good food and as much as you wanted great for a roast dinner

9.5/10As with any Buffett type restaurant there are good and bad things. But that said you know what you’re signing up for when you go there. So queuing for your dinner is a given. The staff were lovely, food hot and plentiful and had a money off coupon too plus earned Yums - all in all a good night.

9/10Easy to book a table for four, We we’re shown to a table just of the main restaurant which was excellent , roast was the choice for all four and did not disapoint everything was hot

9/10We bioked through you to eat at 12 45 we got there and was told we was 1 hr early the lady showed me the booking time for 1 45 and then i showed her my booking for 12.45 we was told to come back 1hr later. We was not happy as we had to travel to get there and we ended up eating in the bar area. I wont be using you to book a toby again

8/10Our server, Kayleigh, was really professional and friendly. Food was good, exactly as expected of a carvery. Toilets not great, needs some attention to decor and cleanliness.

5/10My 91 year old mother has been a regular customer to this carvery for several years. She particularly likes this restaurant as she visits with family, which is a real treat for her and can choose manageable portions to suit her poor appetite. As she eats less than a child’s portion, I have often asked staff if she can have a child’s portion & this request is always denied by staff. It sickens me to see other customers, both adults & their children piling their plates high with obscenely amounts of food, then return for even more! I find it grossly unfair that she is always charged full price, despite the fact it’s clear to see she is elderly & frail. As far as I’m concerned, she’s paying to support the cost of someone else’s gluttony.

6.5/10Booking was easy and efficient. There were a few too many reminders beforehand which became irritating. Our waitress was friendly but seemed to be rushing us through our courses. The restaurant was busy and crowded so I guess tables were needed. We were seated by the servery so it was quite hot and the window beside us didn’t open, so the ambience wasn’t pleasant or relaxed. The food was good and tasty, but I can’t really understand why you are not allowed a sausage when you have a standard plate. It would have added to the flavours. However good value for money.

10/10Always enjoy Toby restaurant, easy to book table and even sent a reminder. Today was very special as it was first time for months my sister and I were fit enough to venture out so obviously we chose Toby. Greeting and service was its usual high standard and food was amazing. Staff offering to help and made us feel special. Thank you for making our visit special.

4.5/10Staff were fine but yet again the food wasn't very hot. The spoons were boiling which gave the impression food was hot. I really feel it would be better if you just dished up the meals on a plate as this is the 2nd time I have been, and the food was cold by the time I got to the table. We were about 4th in the cue. I believe you don't turn the hot plates on early enough. Your staff are being let down probably by management cutting back to a too fine margin which is understandable in these times. However, given these times I don't expect to pay that amount for cold food. It's such a shame because you are very close to me and I enjoy coming to the restaurant but I'm not paying for cold food.

7.5/10Service was pants. Just got forgotten about regarding drinks, ordering from the menu and dessert. They even forgot to charge us for carvery!! We didn’t leave a tip as there was a staff change over.

6.5/10The food was ,really nice, how ever the service wasn't ver good, to be left sitting with empty plates for over 20 minutes,even tho we had asked about childrens desserts, the people behind us had their plates cleared as soon as they had finished,in my opinion our table should have been cleared before,it resulted in myself asking for the bill and leaving.service needs to be vastly improved before I would return to the restaurant again

7/10The meat was fine. Although the dishes were hot the vegetables were luke warm and cooled very quickly. There was no vegetable bake and the dish and this had not been replaced.replenished

3/10Table for my friend and I was booked for 12.30, for the Christmas Festive menu, waited 10 mins before being served. Half the starters were off the menu. Another 10 mins later got the starters which was good. But everything went downhill from there, mains was ordered. We waited and waited, the waiter kept going into kitchen for update and was constantly told 5 mins, 60 minutes later, still NO mains. We then decided we had enough and told them, we would be leaving. Manager apologised and explained that the Chef had to prep the food from the beginning. What? kind of Chef doesn't do enough prep.!?!? Total time in Restaurant was 2 hrs and all we got was a drink and the starter. Not, the waiters fault, completely the Chefs fault, for not doing enough prep in the beginning. Very disappointed, as it was our Christmas meal treat.

4.5/10We have visited Toby Carvery, Stanway lots of times but this has to be the most disappointing visit. I am vegetarian and when I asked what vegetables were in the vegetable tart, the waitress couldn't tell me and then suggested it wasn't that good anyway. I went for the Mushroom and Ale pie instead, which I have had every other time I've visited. It was overcooked, the pastry was hard and I couldn't cut it without it flying across my plate. When myself and my husband went up to the carvery counter, there was no member of staff serving the meat for quite some time. The vegetables looked like they had been there quite some time too and tasted like it, even with gravy. There was a queue for the gravy as they had run out of standard gravy. I was able to have vegetarian gravy but the spoon had great big lumps on it, so clearly hadn't been changed in a long time. It had been a warm day, it's a restaurant with a carvery, so it is naturally hot but there was no air inside the restaurant and by the time we had finished our meals, we both just wanted to get outside and cool down. Such a shame as we have never experienced this kind of service before.

6/10We hadn’t been for a carvery for a while and we’re looking forward to it, admittedly they were busy but we had to wait to be seen once seated then when we had our food there was no cutlery and then once we ordered dessert there again was a delay

10/10The staff were, as always, very friendly and helpful! A real bonus for me was seeing Tara, there, a wonderful singer with the band The Wandering Hearts! Everyone goes to Toby Carveries, great value for money!

7/10We were celebrating my brothers birthday and he loves a roast. The food did not disappoint. The drinks and desserts were a little slow to be served, but we weren’t in a hurry. We were a little to warm as we were seated near the carvery, but we will know next time to request elsewhere. I felt a little inundated with emails and texts reminding me about the booking. One would have been enough.
