10/10It was my Grandson's First Birthday - we had been eating sausage Rolls and sandwiches all day but by the evening needed a proper meal !! We read reviews and it sounded good so we gave it a try. We are not local so it was our first time. We have been to various carveries before but I have to say your food was the best I had eaten at this type of Restaurant. All the meat was tender and moist and the roast potatoes in beef fat were the best ever. In fact all the vegetables were lovely. we agreed that on our next visit to Southend we would take my daughter, her husband and our Grandson for a treat. The atmosphere was cosy and the staff were all friendly and helpful. In particular our waitress Mandy was really friendly and funny. It really made a difference to our visit. we will recommend and be back next time we are in the area.

8/10We went on a Sunday which is very busy time , so I booked for 2. On arrival we had to wait until a table was available, which I found strange as we had booked so thought one would be ready when we got there. Food was very good and table service was slso very good.

6.5/10the meal overall was ok but the roast potatoes were over cooked and gravy poured all over them i think it was to soften them up wont be going again on a sunday were you pay more than in the week

9/10I love roast dinners - so I will always go to Toby's for a good meal. I find service always good, , and the food always a constant good quality at a reasonabnle price. I found the booking ap. easy to use, and the free parking most welcome! I will eat at Toby again.

5/10First time we have visited in last 2 years. Food was good but the beef was very fatty and at very end of the original joint. The chefs looked very scruffy and needed clean clothes they were never in whites. Whole building is in a very very poor state and needs a complete redecoration. We had a nice evening but could have been soo much better.

9.5/10We decided early this morning to have a carvery roast today. And as usual its was superb, All the ingredients were first class and the food cooked perfectly. The quality and price makes a good argument not to cook a Sunday roast at home. The staff were very good and the service was excellent considering how busy they were. We will be coming again soon!

7.5/10The half way house is exactly what you expect from a Toby Carvery. However it is desperately in need of refurbishment, how the staff manage to stay so positive and welcoming is testament to the team spirit achieved by themselves

7/10I fully understand covid restrictions and processes to try and limit contact but Don’t understand why we have to wait for someone to bring our plate to our table. After our food was served it was put at the end of the hot food area we went back to our seats and waited almost 5 minutes for someone to bring it over. Another person touching our food plate.

8.8/10Lovely staff. Helpful and friendly. Disappointed there was no marmalade at all though! Breakfast without marmalade is not acceptable, hence only giving 4 stars.
