This is just a beautiful little restaurant tucked away, like a little secret, in the middle of 7 dials/ Covent Garden. The food was amazing - though as you would expect in the West End, a little bit racy on the price front. Service was ok, but let down by inattentive drinks service, which for a Japanese restaurant is a definite no-no. Food was very very good. The slices of fish were a little too thick, but I think this is a decision that the chefs have purposely made. The chef's were Thai, serving Japanese food and I assume the training was probably not classically Japanese trained. However, still very impressive. It's going to be a new go to in the area.

Oh my this was delicious! What an intimate spot in London, where you can watch the chefs prepare your dishes (it made it all very exciting). Honestly some of the best food I've had in London in a good while. A very memorable dinner 😁

Amazing roll-dishes freshly prepared in front of you! Really impressed with the quality of the food. The cocktails were also excellent. Make sure to book in advance, as the place has limited seats available. You will not regret going there!

10/10Very good sushi. The Nori on the handrolls was superb and the fish was chopped and mixed as each was made. Beautiful room, with less than 20 seats at the bar and a relaxed but elegant feel. Reserved but efficient and pleasant service.

Ukiyo Handroll Bar, located in London, is a standout in the city’s dining scene. Having dined with top omakase chefs, I can say the chef at Ukiyo deserves to be among them. The precision and creativity in every dish reflect Michelin-level expertise. We began with the yellowtail tiradito, perfectly balanced with acidity and spice, its buttery texture melting on the palate. Every nigiri we sampled had its own character, from the delicate brush of soy to the smokiness of torched selections. The fish was fresh and prepared with masterful skill, highlighting the chef’s talent. However, the only flaw was the lighting and décor, which didn’t match the food’s excellence. The atmosphere felt too harsh for the intimate experience Ukiyo’s food demands. Despite that, I hope Ukiyo maintains its high standards. I’ll be returning, though I fear it may soon be difficult to secure a reservation. For now, it’s a hidden gem worth discovering. Rating: 9/10

10/10Food was amazing. Love the whole concept, quite different from other sushi restaurants I've been to in the UK. Sushi chef prepares the rolls in front of you, no need for a Waitrose to bring it over it's just passed over to you by the chef!!

I took my sister her for her birthday meal and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We went for the tasting menu and ordered extras on the side. The quality of the food is unreal, buttery and meaty perfection. I have already recommended it to family & friends. The service and aesthetics was also 5🌟.

10/10Booked for 2pm so there weren't many around. Upon entering, I was greeted with a lovely smile from the waiter. The sushi master King had been attentive to us where we got to not only indulge in succulent Japanese delicacies made fresh before you, we also got a hearty chat with him. This experience definitely brightened up my long week. I left with my belly full, and my soul content. It's a small place with a chill vibe and cozy ambience. Worth visiting and trying out the tasting menu for 2.

+2Glad to have stopped by Ukiyo. Was really craving sushi and always tempted by temaki style and this really hit the spot. Got the tuna tataki which was great. The 6 piece set of temaki was absolutely perfect meal for one. The selection was curated well, mixing different flavours, sweet, spicy and all you're looking for in a sushi. My top three were the unagi, the yellowtail and the spicy scallop. The matcha dessert was a great topper to everything! The service of the staff was also so so pleasant. Not too overwhelming but we're so friendly and just good vibes all around. Overall, would 100% go back again! only thing is the bar/stool combo might be a tad too tall for short girls like me
