The evening meal was strictly average. But the breakfast was not. The cooked breakfast was probably the worst we have had in any hotel. Sausages hard, hash brownies pale and undercooked, fried eggs overcooked. Scrambled eggs had blue running through. The chef when he came to the buffet to replenish was unkempt, to be polite

For was delicious, but the service was lacking. I’ve not eaten anywhere in a long time where I had to request every step of the dining experience (food to be brought out, bills, payments) to make it happen. We were there an hour and 15 mins before our mains arrived. It took over two hours to order, eat and pay for our single course meal.

Service was slow and had to request coffee and toast twice. Cooked breakfast was one sausage and one slice of bacon. Other cooked breakfast items were charged extra.

Bottle of water wasn’t chilled. Asked for ice cubes which came in a pint glass! Main courses were nice but the chocolate pudding reminded me of Angel Delight!

This was the best restaurant by far that we dined at when wevisited in the Bath. The food was exceptional. The ambience was fantastic with , tablecloths tables well separated, and very quiet, which is the only restaurant that was quiet in Bath. I have one big complaint, the greeting that we received at the restaurant by the matre do and by the staff was “ We are fully booked this evening“ and so even a minor request was bluntly stopped. Not good reception protocol! I was angry going into that restaurant, but everything was fine after I had my martini

We were staying at the hotel and had breakfast here all three days and dinner the second night. I expected amazing things and was very disappointed for most of the meals that we had. As this is specifically regarding our dinner booking, I’ll focus on that. The staff were friendly enough, but there weren’t enough people on. It took them ages to take our order and when they did I made it clear I wanted a started for my main with a side salad. They brought my requested meal out as a starter and when I sent it back they brought a larger plate out for my main with no side salad. The dishes were underwhelming and my side salad never arrived and then was on the bill when it was brought to us. It really wasn’t great, and certainly not worth the amount of money we paid for the meal.

The food was excellent and there was an interesting choice. Slightly disappointing that we ordered the duck starter and then were told there was no duck - we were the first people in the restaurant, so they hadn’t run out! You think the kitchen would have communicated with the waiting staff - part of the enjoyment of a meal like this is to make your choice, so to spend 15 minutes doing this and the waiter taking your order, only to be told 10 minutes later that your order isn’t available is disappointing. Having said all of that, the meal was great and we were well looked after - it was my Mothers birthday and the dessert they presented her with ( with birthday message) was a really lovely touch - all in all, highly recommended, especially for a special occasion.

Food was delicious and service excellent. Was a very quiet night so that helped. Disappointed to learn on checking out that the paired wine cost double that of a normal glass - shame as didn’t really enjoy it that much.

Very little choice of beer , standard Peroni etc. would expect a local beer. Cheese disappointing for 5* cheddar , Brie and an unspecified blue.

This restaurant was disappointing. It took about 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. My husband's starter arrived and mine didn't so not wanting his to go cold, we agreed that he would eat. They came to clear his plate as the portion was so small it took mere minutes to eat, and we asked where mine was and found it had been forgotten. The place seemed short staffed and stressed, it certainly wasn't worthy of a 5 star hotel, and we asked for the discretionary service charge to be removed only to find we have been charged it. The ambience is non existent. We shall not be recommending or returning.

The menu was very limited and a lot of the stuff was fish. Which is ok if you like fish ! And it was not the menu I looked at on line. But the staff was excellent and the atmosphere was great.

We enjoy our meal, how ever I was having difficulty in accessing my online banking and asked to pay in Cash the waiter said we do not accept Cash he said hold on and left our table on his return he said cash is ok we paid £125 including a tip , two days later I had a phone basically saying we never paid our bill I took this up with the General Manager he was very reassuring this would be sorted , some days later he told the person in question has been Diagnosed with Cancer and he is now unable to investigate this matter ,. The end I presume.

The dining experience was perfect - the service, staff and overall atmosphere. Couldn't have asked for better venue to celebrate my husband's 50th. However, after the meal it took another 45 mins for the staff to know how to use the Macdonald voucher we had, and wanted to use towards the cost of the meal. The email only stated to show the voucher to staff, not print it out. It seemed that no one really knew how to deal with this and we stayed at the restaurant far longer than we needed or intended.

The restaurant was of a piece with the hotel: proper but a bit old fashioned. The quality of the ingredients was disappointing relative to the prices. I don't mind paying for good food, but I do want to feel that I'm getting my money's worth.

The food and service were very good. The main course choices are very limited, most with seafood/mushroom content to which 2 of our party of 4 were allergic/averse. They therefore chose from the room service menu. Some more standard choices would be desirable.

Superb food and excellent wine choices to complement. Enjoyed every mouthful. We were not rushed, plenty of time between courses to relax.
