Great location with views of beach. Self order at bar in restaurant with table service of food. Good selection and reasonably priced

My error - I thought we were dining at the restaurant with a view at the top of the hotel, instead we were at the cafe on the ground floor. It wasn't very busy but service was slow and we had to go to the bar to order. We ordered cocktail/mocktail plus food expecting to get the former while waiting for the latter to be cooked but had to wait for the cocktails. My food was warm rather than hot, possibly because of the delay for the drinks. The waitress was pleasant and obviously having a bad day. The chairs at the table we were seated at weren't great for dining - fine for a drink but too "informal" for sitting up to eat. We were seated indoors rather than on the terrace and it was air-conditioned which was pleasant. The view (right on the seafront) was enjoyable though not as good as I was expecting.

Really disappointing visit. We booked a table for 7 for my Dad’s 93rd birthday and wanted it to be a special occasion. We had to wait ages for any service. Got 2 menus between us. Food was only warm when it arrived. Had to go up to the counter to order next course as there was minimal waiter service. One drink never arrived. It was clear the servers were rushed off their feet, but the overall experience was sooo disappointing.

We ate here twice during our stay. The first night was lovely, almost all the staff were great, just let down by one female employee who decided to chat with another couple for some 15 minutes even though we tried to get her attention several times for the bill. In the end my husband went to the bar. Such a shame. Fortunately she didn't appear on the second evening. That night staff brilliant but my choice of gammon was wrong. Extremely salty

The food was really tasty and well presented. I would highly recommend the steak, which was delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful and thoughtful, without being intrusive. There was a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with excellent background music, which was quiet enough not to spoil conversation. When it got dark outside, the change in the lighting changed the ambience, which I really liked. I would highly recommend the Vista Bar Cafe at The View hotel.
