6.5/10this is the third time we have been to Whitcombs and I will never go back again , the food was excellent as usual but the service was appalling . Maybe they were understaffed but it took them 45 minutes to get us three dishes of grilled prawns and one steak tartare and the bread we ordered arrived after we had finished . We were constantly asking them for the wine , the food the bread . Never again

9/10The food was lovely, for a set menu it was really enjoyable. The place itself is gorgeous and a very pleasant experience. Service impeccable, it was friendly and yet professional, attentive but also discreet, they won't rush you so make sure to consider time when there, as it will fly. Barbara was our head waitress and she was simply brilliant, she made our meal extremely enjoyable and her menu suggestions were spot on.

9/10Whitcombs is an elegant restaurant, serving high quality food with impeccable service. Uniquely (in my experience) they demanded that I should tell them The Fork booking reference number before allowing The Fork discount. Be prepared! The restaurant might consider putting a warning note on the Whitcombs page on The Fork website. The starter, calamari, was delicious, and the portion was generous. Alas, the size of the main course, King Prawn Linguine, was astonishingly ungenerous (4 prawns and the smallest handful of pasta possible); the white wine sauce was delectable.

7.5/10Food was lovely and service was good at first. But as the course went, it became really slow, main course served late, and we had to follow up on our desserts three times, plus was told to wait because they were “really busy” as if we were not paying customers like the others. They even told us that our reservation is for 2 hrs but we were there for almost 3 hours. Moreoever, we would have appreciated if the bill was more straight forward as it created a lot of confusion for our table and they weren’t very happy when we querried it. Our waiter didn’t even talk to us anymore and was attended by another waiter who explained that they “average” the bill. Our waiter also forced us to get 3 bottles of still water then saying the third one was a complimentary bottle but they still billed us which we didn’t mind paying. Food was great don’t get me wrong but they lack transparency on the way they bill, service was inconsistent, and might be best not to say “complimentary” if it’s really not.

7.5/10Didn't realise that the restaurant was part of a hotel when I booked. Food was decent enough but pricey. I had a Nicoise Salad which was a good size but there was a distinct lack of tuna. Also had the white fish pasta which was very nice but the portion size left me wanting more.

10/10It was a pre theatre dinner. We ate from the pre set menu, and added a few extras. The menu is a bargain, 3 courses plus a cocktail £39. Good varied options, and the food is delicious. Whitcombs is a real gem, in the beautiful Londoner hotel. The service is always great, staff are polite and knowledgable. This is my 3rd trip there. I would thoroughly recommend and will be back.

10/10Loved the wonderful oyster appetizer and had the best lamb chops I ever had-tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My husband loved the escargot and seafood tortellini. Would definitely return when next we are in London.

10/10What an absolute surprise, firstly the most beautiful place, ambience and lighting, secondly the most exceptional service and personnel, and then, the way more amazingly, presented, tasting and flavoured cuisine. I can’t remember when I have been so wonderfully surprised by a restaurant!

+2Love the food here and the service in the restaurant is amazing. Second time visiting. On this occasion, I had a rather unpleasant interaction with the lady on the front desk who asked to see my Fork booking as I had booked using my Yums and a £50 off voucher. I mentioned I had done this before and not been asked to show my booking info and she didn't believe me and said the previous host must have done that incorrectly! I showed her the booking email and it seemed that was wrong as she was looking for some kind of code to use. I had to go into the app to get that. Would have been a lot nicer and easier had she just politely explained that right at the start instead of making me feel like I did not belong there! When we left, I found the other hostess on the desk to be much nicer and friendlier (a person of colour with long hair, much nicer interaction). Other than that, still had a great time. Please ask that hostess to perhaps be clearer and nicer in future!

6/10Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing. The restaurant offers a ‘set menu’, whereby the dishes are provided without any sides, so these must be booked (at high prices). The food itself is fine but far too expensive for what it is. The portions were small, and the champagne with the set menu was not great. The service was good.

8.5/10Beautiful place and the food was amazing. The only comment I’d have is that the plates were cleared before we finished the meal, the waitress literally grabbed my plate when I still had food on my fork. Left with a bad taste in my mouth.

10/10We thought we would try this restaurant and were really pleased we did that. The location was perfect for theatres, the space was beautiful and the staff were well informed and gave attentive and good service. The food was really good. We want to have the fillet mignon again! Such delicious sauce. We also tried the seafood platter, which tasted good. Also good wine, sensibly priced. Definitely good value and worth going back.
