Wine Bar de' Penitenzieri

I can only leave a positive feedback about this place with such a welcoming service and high quality food and wine. Like others reviews say as soon as you sit you get a free bruschetta and spumante ; before you leave you get free dessert and lemoncello. This is worth 10/15 euros free in addition to your the fork deal. The wine list is extremely good. We got one of the cheapest of the menu and it was a delicious. A top shelf bottle. Honestly my girlfriend got a pizza and she didn't enjoy it much but i ordered a tagliere (salami and cheese cutter) and it was one of the best selection i ever had. My last word is for the location, just a few steps away from the Vatican. Highly recommended

Little wine bar near the Vatican. Perfect for an aperitivo with finger food or a dinner. Excellent Pasta and Pizza. The owner and all the staff are very friendly. They welcome you with a complimentary glass of wine and a Bruschetta Go there aftter a visit to St Pierre the service and the food will not disappoint you. Long list of Pasta specialties.

We got a nice bruschetta and 2 Prosecco as a welcome from the restaurant. Our Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe were fantastic. We also tried a Bruschetta with the Puntarelle. Excellent.

We were going to go to fancier restaurant that was farther away, but after a day of fighting the crowd at the Vatican museum, we were tired, so we scrambled for something closer that was still good. We hit the jackpot. De Penitenzieri is a small wine bar that seems to have a mainly Italian clientele. They have an extensive menu. They gave us an amuse-Bouche of bruschetta with some celery heart and anchovy that was surprisingly good. The salume and cheese plate was large and delicious, the onion soup was terrific. The taglietelli and porcini was good, but perhaps needs some more sauce to tie it all together, but the pasta was fresh and good. We had a pizza that was delicious and some very good risotto. The wine the waiter recommended was really good and came in at about €30. But the best part was the atmosphere. The staff was super helpful and we really enjoyed our meal there. We are planning to go back!

Excellent food, especially the fish was extremely fresh and tasty. Nice wines and cosy atmosphere. One of the best, if not the best place to eat close to Vatican.
