Found this place somewhat randomly in the Michelin guide while I was in the area, but what a fantastic experience it was! The restaurant of a rather grand country hotel near Ascot (with its own park and polo field and room prices to match) but has a contemporary and peaceful feel, interesting while avoiding both the overly formal and stuffy or needlessly edgy atmosphere one occasionally finds in these venues. The service was impeccable and friendly, with a special word for the knowledgeable and generous sommelier (excellent chardonnay from Essex, of all places!). But it was the food that made the visit unforgettable. We have eaten at many a starred restaurants, but this experience rates amongst our top meals ever, anywhere. Way better than our recent experience at Da Terra and at par with Core to name but two. Excellent amuse bouche (eel soup particularly memorable) but the starters and mains were even better: both my chicken with hazelnuts, diced foie gras and truffle and turbot with lobster were delicious, classic with a modern twist, rich without being overwhelming. Crab and deer were also superb, I am told. Excellent pistachio pastry to finish, and I don't normally enjoy sweet dishes. Looking forward to being back soon.

Attentive servers, slight mix up with who ordered what but over all a great team! Such a nice birthday surprise they gave to us too. Really cool atmosphere!

A rare visit to a Michelin rated restaurant and it did not disappoint, each serving carried the usual high standard of food with distinct flavours permeating our taste buds and the presentation exquisit. Wine selection was perfect and given our passing through a single glass of their newly acquired 'ribera del duero' was just perfect.

The feel of the restaurant was lovely, the food was superb ive been to quite few 1 Michelin star restaurants and this was definitely one of the best. Would eat there every week if I could. I look forward to a return visit.
