9.5/10Our waitress was excellent and even though it was very busy, she still made time for us. The food was great and the atmosphere was relaxing. It is not the first time we have been to ‘Ye Olde Six Bells’ although the last time was few years ago, the food this time was even better than we remembered.

9/10What really stood out was the wonderful service. Lovely chap who was so polite and attentive, so refreshing. Wish I had asked his name. If it helps he had a lot of facial piercings. He is a real keeper and deserves a raise. I work myself in catering and you don’t find many people like him anymore. Outstanding service.

9.5/10A lovely variety of dishes on the menu and all reasonably priced. Both me and my friend commented on the food we had and what good quality it was and how generous our dessert portions were. I am sorry that I do not know the waiter's name but he was excellent. We weren't rushed and it was a comfortable place to catch up with an old friend. I will definitely recommend.

9.5/10We know some of the staff personally and we are greeted extremely well. We have eaten at the 6 bells on and off for 30 years as it is only a 20 minute walk. The service is outstanding and the menu suits me as i am coeliac and the staff go out of their way to assist me in menu hunting. The overall price surprises me as I have paid more locally where the overall rating was average. Top class service.

4/10I’ve been to this pub a few times and I love the location. Today, we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. We had the mushrooms for a starter and they were very similar to a can of mushrooms with some cheesy / bechamel sauce on them. My friend had a margarita pizza which looked very much like it had come out of Asda and it was not hot enough to melt the cheese so we had to ask for it to be heated up. I pushed the boat out and ordered the pan fried lamb, of which the best part of the meal was the dauphinois potatoes. The lamb was very fatty and chewy and most definitely did not live up to its £26.75 price tag! We were hoping to make this venue our regular go to place but after today, we may have a rethink!

10/10We booked through The Fork weeks in advance and received a reminder the day before. When we arrived the restaurant did not have the booking but although the restaurant was very full, they found us a table and we had a very good time.

6/10I have eaten at the 6 bells before and had a brilliant time. Unfortunately this time wasnt so good, the food was excellent as usual but the service wasnt so good, there was a long wait for food, and had to keep reminding to be given cutlery. Some of us ending up eating with our fingers as we had waited so long for the food and then had to wait for the cutlery while the waiter served another table. The restaurant was very cold and I had to eat with my coat on for the majority of the time. Whilst I have said the service wasnt very good compared to previous visits, I think it was because it was busy and I get the impression the waiter was either very new or learning, he was polite but it was the delay in being able to eat because of the basic lack of spoons etc that caused the lower review.

10/10Staff were very friendly especially the two young waitresses. When I asked if they would light the fire as it was a bit cold it was done immediately. Food was delicious.

10/10What a great find, I was looking for a decent restaurant near gatwick airport where I was meeting my sister, didn’t hold out much hope of anything very good. I was wrong, this was a lovely ancient pub, great food and great service, I thoroughly recommend it

9.5/10The staff were very accommodating agreeing to our moving to a different table because the one allocated was in such a dark location. In fact the whole restaurant seemed darker today than usual. The food and service were excellent the only downside was a rather noisy table next to us which made hearing our group's conversation a little difficult.

10/10We found this pub on the internet, while staying overnight at Gatwick airport. It was wonderful to go to this old pub, getting out of the airport and instead having a very nice meal in a friendly english pub. We will definitely go there again.

10/10This very old pub is up a road of the main road from London to Brighton on the corner of Gatwick. Incredibly there was no noise from the airport inside the building. Had a most enjoyable meal and reasonably priced . We ate of the set menu which is served Monday to Wednesday but you can choose of an extensive a la carte menu which is available all week.. The set menu is between £16 and £21. The service was excellent from the smiling, happy members of staff. It’s definitely worth visiting
